I personally never agree with Car and Driver since they can't drive to begin with however the article is interesting and the Pilots are the best tire IMHO...
I have had pilots a/s which are scary slick, (junk)...kuhmo's which I really like for the price and traction, (a little more road noise as they wear.....nitto NT05 which ride a little harsh and need to be pretty warm for good traction....and now Nitto Invo's which so far I really like, (they ride better than above and and have really good traction)
I have them and they are perform as they well, quiet and are wearing evenly. One good note is they can be rotated between left and right side since they are non-directional tires.
i like mine so far on my Magnacharged car, but make SURE you fix it as soon as possible if one goes flat. i could barely tell anything was wrong last weekend (just a slight vibration) & casually pulled over a couple exits down to check everything out...
I am on my second set, and to me they are the best compromise of all the tires out there for the price! One of the most quiet tires I have had on my vettes...
Cool tread pattern, can be rotated left / right, good in wet weather, and pretty damn sticky here in the AZ desert.
I think you will be very satisfied!!!
I have them on my car as well. I have 4.10 gears so traction is much needed. I have found that these give pretty good traction under hard acceleration.
I am running 275/35r18 & 325/30R19 on my 02 Z06 (475-500whp) During warm days they are wonderful. Good traction in both straight line and cornering. Very grippy in corners. Ride quality is wonderful, even higher if going from a runflat to these.
my only complaint, which would be true for any summer sticky tire, is the lack of traction when it is cooler out.
With as little as I drive my car now, I almost wish I went with the NT05's, but those were est to be worn out in about 15-20k miles by local people to me that have ran them. These are est to last about twice that. My set cost me $1050 plus mounting

The difference with car & Driver's impressions and all the others here is that Car & Driver not only compares all those tires, but does so, back-to-back. No one here has done this, so our comparisons are very limited.
Many years ago, C&D ran a similar tire test and found that the Goodyear GSD3 beat all others, including models from Bridgestone, Kumho, and even the super-expensive Michelins. I bought the Goodyears and have been very happy with them. sadly, they are no longer made in C5 OEM sizes, so my next set may be Continental Contact Extremes; I've heard that Continental will be making their tires here in the US - an added plus.
