See post #15. I'm sure it has to do with the way he was approached as well.

I don't know of anyone who hasn't embellished a story or two about the cars they've owned, myself included.

So you're saying that anyone who tells you about a previous car is just full of BS? Sorry, that didn't clear anything up for me. Still don't get the rant.

I get this kind of stuff all the time and its usually one of two reasons. They are jealous and have to talk themselves up to feel better about themselves or they are actually trying to have a nice conversation with you and mention what they have/had to show a common interest.

It's too bad we have to brush off so many jealous people talking BS that we miss out on talking to a true enthusiast sometimes.

Gas stations are usually the worst; there's always some guy with his wife and three kids in some ratty beater car that brags about once having a really nice car and wrecking it while going way to fast.

I engage anyone who wants to talk cars. If I feel they are trying to brag I end it. But I have nothing to feel bad about nor envious of, so let's talk about all 18!!

Maybe the kid does have 18 vettes and maybe his dad bought them for him? Or maybe he got a multimillion dollar med malpractice judgement and suffers every day with some complaint not visible to the naked eye. Or maybe he is an internet entrepreneur who started a successful company while in high school and earned every penny of those cars in a short time- it does happen. Who cares? You sound like the jealous one and frankly kind of acted like a jerk.

What I get from a lot of people at work is, O you must be rich, and others that say O you need to buy a new one.

You'd expect a friend to tell you if you were being a jerk. Or if typing in large blue print was annoying. That's just what friends do. They aren't afraid to hurt your feelings by jabbing at you.

Perhaps a friend would do it if he knew the facts of the situation and was there to help determine whether the annoying person was truly an a/h. But they still can do it in a nice way. Btw, some of us can see the large blue print better than the default, which one of us corresponded with the Administrators about so they would not annoy others, but since certain people ASSUME the worst about people they claim are 'friends', they would not take the time to ask in a respectful, friendly manner.

But you were able to read everyone else's small black print, so I assumed you just wanted to emphasize your opinion over others. I asked the OP twice to explain why he was outraged by the mention of previous cars, but no response. I would like to understand (and maybe agree), but just based on the original rant, I can't figure out what made him mad. Was it the fact that others spoke to him about Corvettes, or that others had more cars than he did? Maybe he didn't like their attitude. I don't know why it bothered him so much, or you for that matter. I guess you had to be there. Its something I'd like to hear from the OP, not others who also don't have all the facts.
