Last December I rode a high school kid in one of the Christmas parades. Just so happens the vehicle behind me was a 20 year old in a corvette. I'm standing there with my rider and his father walks up to me and says, "my son owns 18 corvettes". I replied,"your son is not old enough to have worked and earned enough money to buy 18 corvettes. They must be yours". Then I walked off.
Yesterday I was in line waiting for parade to start but was standing beside my car and gentleman in a pickup truck lined up behind me. He got out and came over to me and started bragging about how he owned 7 corvettes. Again, I walked off. It has happen at car shows too. Someone comes up and starts bragging about all the corvettes they owned in the past. I don't get it. What's up with that?

Seems like the character "J Paul Getty" in the Mel Brooks movie 'Life Stinks"
I get the "my friends Camaro/Mustang/Civic/minivan can out perform you car in the 1/4 mile, and it does 160mph in like 10 seconds flat." I just keep their conversaton to see what other "stupid" remarks they make.

You could consider doing what I've done which is just turn to the guy and say ... "Well, I had to work my *** off for 40 years just to get this one so I'm still kinda liking it a lot ...... You know how it is."

I had a guy at a car show look over my C5Z then say that he likes the C5's but cant bring him to sell his C4 because of the much larger foot well space on the C4's....
.... I was like.... .....
My friends almost died laughing once he walked away.

I really wouldn't lose any sleep over it, I would of just said cool and moved on and not give it another thought, It must of bothered you to post it on here.

I can see his point a bit. There isn't a whole lot of room down there in my 6spd.
I don't think I'd reject buying based on that unless I was wearing 16s.
I suppose the kid might have had 18 Corvette's if:
1. He wrecked them regularly
2. He sold and bought different ones several times per year (maybe every couple of months?)
3. The way the guy stated it, the kid had 18 Corvettes right now, but that's not likely.
4. There are bozos like this everywhere.. <sigh> Best thing to do is just say "Really?" and then direct the conversation elsewhere.
5. You can respond with "That's neat. Do any of them do ludicrous speed?"

I guess I'm missing what the outrage is about. Are you saying that everyone lies to you about the cars they owned, or you just don't want to hear about it if they did? It sounds like they just want to talk Corvettes with a Corvette owner. I've owned 15, so if I tell you that, am I on the list? Just trying to figure out your point on this.

I agree. My dad has owned several corvettes in the past including a 67 L88. He always enjoys going up to to other vette owners and talking about their old cars. Usually if it is another older fella, they have had similar cars. He usually brings up the L88 but not to brag, just to converse.
