Default C5 ecm ( pcm )

Can someone help to let me know if it is the ecm unit.. Driving yesterday and all of a sudden the guages went all over to max and stayed there, the information center stated to power down immediately and traction control was bad and anti lock system was failing.. I lost no power and engine runs fine.. Any suggestions, unfortunately I am out of town 500 miles.. Can I make it home or can I do something like change th emc??? Thanks

With all that, I would first be pulling the codes via the DIC. Check your battery cables and the battery to solenoid connection.

Try opening both doors one at a time and give a shake to the door accordian tubes there. If the problem goes away or shows changes, then the issue is the serial data buss wire in the connector there. It will become lose over time and causes all sorts of weird issues. Also, jiggle the ignition key itself...if you have a bunch of stuff hanging off the key, remove the extra.

I'll toss in one more real possibility, is the passenger floorboard "wet" with water? If the HVAC udders are plugged up, water will drip onto and into the BCM which is behind the passenger footwell which is a serious issue.

Please give us the information on your car...year, model, mods...

It's a99 Vette, and the floor board passerger side is dry and behind the door to the BCM..is dry... In the summer I ck
leaned all the grounds and I've tried disconnecting the battery and re booting the system.. No luck.. Some items work some don't.. auto headlights , NO Radio, NO Interior courtesy lights Yes.. Some of the BCM system seems to work and the other stuff does not.. From reading I don't believe it's the PCM but could be the BCM.. Need help.. Can I make the trip back 500 miles if the engine seems to be runing fine?

If the engine is running, the PCM is most likely not the issue. Did you attempt to pull the codes? Can you measure the battery with a DVM?

Where are you right now?
Check the door harness like dgrant suggested. Pull the accordian back and work the wiring harness out enough to access the connector(s). Look for any sign of wire insulation being abraded. There is a wire in that door harness that often has a very short exposed end at the connector that can ground out.

Bill Curlee updated his find to not a shorting wire, rather a lose serial data buss wire in the accordian tube and its causing issues for many people. The one wire which was exposed or not covered was a shield wire only.

What was the exact code? If you got any of these I'll list, the PCM has serious issues and you'll need to see a dealer in all probability. Check all of the fuses. Look for battery acid on the PCM or its wiring and so on.

P0601 PCM Memory
P0602 PCM Not Programmed
P0604 PCM RAM Performance
P0606 PCM Internal Communication Interrupted
