Usually the plastic GM radiators fail in the top area, right around where the top hose connects, which is where mine was leaking. I thought about replacing with an oem but after researching a little, I went with the all aluminum for several reasons.
1. double the cooling capacity
2. quality construction
3. longevity
As far as the catch cans go there are different setups. The most popular way is to run the valve covers to one can (with a T fitting) and the PCV system to the other can.
People that have significant oil blow by hook them up in series, PCV line to top of can1, side of can1 to top of can2, side of can2 back to manifold. It was actually a very easy install.
Below is a link from LS1 tech forum that shows all the different ways to hook up. Scroll down and you wil see hook ups for single can, dual can, with turbos, etc.
