If the divorce had already been started there may have been something in the paperwork prohibiting such a sale by either party. She could be in trouble for this........he needs to make his lawyer aware of this. At least that's the way it works in Arkansas.
If not he's pretty stupid for only having her name on the title and is most likely in for more rude awakenings.
That sucks for sure, Titles are always in my name or both, I wonder why he put it in her name? Live and learn. If the title was in her name it wasn't his car.
Mr.Bill
BEFORE...you file chapter 7 or 13, the idea is to get most assets out of your name....
I'm no attorney but I'm pretty sure in court that asset will be counted against her half of the estate (assuming he got the car after they were married). He lost a car and that sucks but they are replaceable. Sounds like he married a real winner and is getting out none to soon.
And a word to the wise......be careful about what you say or post about your significant others. I posted on another forum about a place where I met my wife. A co worker of hers stumbled upon that post via a random google search one day and told my wife about it. My wife of course came to me and told me about it. I didn't write anything negative regarding her but it shocked me how a random post without names or addresses was traced back to me by a third party.

Mr.Bill
It's sad, but it sounds as if he was sporting her vette.
The title to his vette was in his OR his soon to be ex wifes name so when he wasn't looking she sold his car out from under him. Unbelievable !!!! Be careful how you title your cars folks.
Note that the OP said "his OR her names". Florida is a community property (equitable distribution) state. There's a pretty good chance Florida law required both their names be on the title, particularly if there was ever a lien on it.
I'd like to say this guy is stupid, but guys dont be to hard on him we dont know his circumstances. The exact same thing happened to me, the ex sold my all original 69 350/350 roadster out from under me. For legal reasons it was in her name and of course I never dreamed she would do such a thing. Things happen like I said we should'nt judge, we dont know this mans situation.
[I]mr. Bill: You are the master of the headgear! Very nice, you must have oil wells somewhere?
جزاكم الله خيراً
BTW Mr. Bill I was wondering were you got that last pic of Zappa, then you throw down with this one. Do you shop these pics or what? LOL
