I heard a similar story about a guy who had his Harley tiltled that way and lost it. Taxes, DUI who knows...maybe tring to fly under the radar. Best not to **** her off if that's the case.
If it was paid for and perhaps he was planning on filing for bankruptcy, possibly to keep the courts from making him sell it to pay his debts. That is going on alot in today's economy

The good thing for him is that she's gone before he accumulated many more assets because she sounds nasty....I mean take a guy's vette....how cruel is that! ....take the loss and it's now time to go out and buy a nicer vette......and find a nicer wife.....and get a prenupt for the new vette
