You do know that you can turn them off and on, right?
The set i have you can't even see the tubes below the body. And it can be easily removed if needed.
It doesn't take anything away from the body lines. It doesn't hinder the performance. And it doesn't bring down the value of the Vette.
Please tell me what is so wrong? Other then RICE...
I watched the whole video and if these LED/NEON are so popular at parades how come I only saw one car with them. Sorry, I cannot see spending that kind of money so I can use them in a parade and besides how many parades do you participate in a year. I did one this past year.
I'm old school and not a fan of the LED craze, but I have seem some C5's and C6's with the LED's under the car in the wheel wells behind the grill and in the coves. Like I said I'm old school and they are not my thing, but if you look around there are a lot of C5's and C6's being bought by a much younger age group than say a few years ago and that many in that generation is into that "Look at Me" so get use to seeing Corvette's riced out. As we always say, it is your car your money so you need to do what you want to do and not what others tell you what to do.
No offense, but just the mere fact your driving a Corvette screams "Look at me!"
There is no way around that. Unless you want to drive a Yugo.

Maybe in some places, but there are more BMW M3's and M5's, Ferrari's Porsche's and Lambo's running around in my area that a Corvette is just another car. I live two minutes from a Ferrari dealership and just around the corner is a large BMW dealership. At the Cars & Coffee each month there is usually 15-20 Ferrari's, plus Aston Martin's, Maserati's, Porsche 911's and so on.

because some of the Corvette owners don't care to be BASHED for having LED under their Corvettes.
The kit that I installed was under $80.00. I installed it myself. Yes, I agree it could get costly if you had to hire someone to install them for you.
As for the number of parades I do a year.
The Corvette Club of Hawaii (CCoH) is one of the main go to clubs that are dependable and responsible to participate in parades in Hawaii.

Well there you go. That answers it. The Vette is just another car akin to a Hinda civic. Perfect platform for ricers to modify.
I don't see a problem here with the LED lights then.

I've seen crap on some peoples cars on here that are a lot uglier than undercarriage lights.
I'd rather have neon lights under my car than chrome inserts/accents of any kind, any kind of checkered flag pattern anywhere, *** ugly body kits, ect.
If you're 17 years old then sure. I did it when I was a kid with my 2nd car. It was cool at the time but now that I look at it unless the whole underbody is chrome and it's just a show car then it's not really that great looking, at least in my opinion. I think now it looks like a UFO. Leave it to the kids and instead put that money into something more appropriate for a vette.
sad that most of you don't like the LED/NEON lights under the Vettes.
It is more sad that a grown adult in 2011 likes a kid's lowrider/ricer under-car neon kit that was a dead fad back in the early 1990's, and wants to put it on America's premier sportscar. I suppose you still rock a mullet haircut and acid-washed Guess jeans, too?

It's the same where I live. But there are other tasteful ways of making your car stand out. A corvette with UFO lights under it surrounded by a bunch of Farrari's is not going to steal any attention from the Ferraris. Instead go talk to the Ferrari peeps. Once in a while a nice one will talk to you and say something like how he started out with a vette too and mention it's great value. And if they don't then at least we know we save quite a bit of money for about the same performance. The difference is it won't cost us 5 grand to do a clutch swap or exhaust package.
I like my stripe kit to stand out just a little bit. It's flat black on black so it really doesn't scream for attention but it gets a bit when it's noticed. Other then that we can do simple tasteful things like wheels, maybe paint some trim or the halo bar or the rear bumper valance, etc. But in my opinion the UFO kit... I mean underbody light kits scream, "look at me, I'm not even old enough to drink yet and I'm jealous of every other car I see".
You guys sound like the same people who tell me that I'm driving a mid life crisis car. I'm going to do an install in a few weeks. I'll compile a write up if there's enough interest. It's much more complex than plugging it into the battery and connecting a switch.

Reviving a negative thread from the past probably won't help your cause

Someone needs to read the rules and not worry about LEDs.
this thread proves that anyone can now own a C5... and that there are many 18 and nineteen year olds here. I can also see that the East LA contingent is here to approve this LED craze.
I did it on my 97. In my opinion, the difference is in build quality. My kit is steady blue. No flashing and custom-built lengths of low-profile strips. No ground clearance issue and the biggest plus, you cannot see the light source from any angle:
I will be doing it again on my 02. I like the look.
It's also worth noting that one of my first customers has me do the same thing in red with his black 08:
