Do you get arrested if you wash a car in your complex? Who can tell you that? I'd hook up the hose. Or move........

Unfortunately the resale value just dropped by 10k. These cars are not allowed to be in the rain!

Last time I drove mine a few days ago it rained, it's Western Oregon and rain is to be expected. I live in an RV park (no garage duh!) I use a waterless car wash because the local municipal water is well water, most people here don't even drink it let alone make coffee with it, water spots you can actually feel http://www.autogeek.net/dp-waterless...ncentrate.html which really works well, I'll wax it in the spring. DP waterless doesn't seem to work and wouldn't apply properly the last time I used it though. 40° F, 99% humidity was the likely culprit, it wouldn't polish off.
It sits there a bit dirty right now, when the weather straightens out I'll take into Forest Grove to a little independent hand wash that I trust. What's a 60 mile round trip among friends and country roads? $8.95 hand wash, new fresh soapy bucket and well rinsed cloth for every car.

I had to have a long talk with my 2000 Dodge 1500 that I bought to be the "foul weather" vehicle so I could keep the 'vette dry and pretty. It broke down on me awhile back just as one of those fronts came busting through here and dumped a ton of rain that I had to drive the 'vette through to get to work.

I told it that the next time it happened, it was getting traded for something newer!

I'd like to be able to keep my car clean all the time but, around here the rednecks pride themselves by having the muddiest 4X4 in town and will drive through any construction site available to apply the grime and then shed it on the road so, I'm constantly having to deal with that.

Life's a bitch!

I've managed to keep my '98 out of the rain for nearly 12 years, but I'm sure I just jinxed myself.

I drove mine off of the lot in the middle of a S Florida thunderstorm. Been sitting outside ever since. Every two weeks it gets a bath. If I have the choice of spending my limited free time driving or washing, Im going to drive.

Mine is a DD, so it sees all kinds of weather. I do however try not to have her out if it is going to snow. I can handle the snow, but the idiots in this town scare the $hit out of me...

I've had my 2001 Coupe for 5 years. It's been rained on twice. Both while participating in car shows.

First off, LOL before all you guys start to pile on, I'm pretty **** about my seasonal cars and poor weather. By reading the posts so far I see I'm in the moniroty here but I can sympathize with the OP here. For me, I like performing the maintainence on the car as much as driving it.

I rebuilt my T-Bucket 6 years ago. I mean down to the frame, paint stripped off body and frame, new interior, all of it. I asked a body man how to keep the paint looking like new and he advised the following knowing just how **** I can get. First, blow the dust off with compressed air. Then get a spray bottle of water only and spray an area down and let it soak in a few minutes. Hit it agin with more spray, and then gently use a water soaked microfiber towel to wash the area. Hit it again with the sparyer, and gently wipe it dry with another microfiber towel. Should be clean by now. Then use whatever product you want to polish / wax whatever. Cover car when done. Car has not seen any rain yet so the worst it gets is occasional bug splatter and road grime. Yeah, the above probably won't work for those that are driven daily but it has yet to produce a scratch, swirl mark, or marr in any of the paint. Drive it on average only 1500 miles per year. If your usage of the car is seasonal and for pleasure, then some obsession is not bad.

The Vette gets the same appearance care and it gets driven about the same (no rain so far). Just finished a complete wipe down of the undercarriage and starting the annual polishing / waxing next. Yeah, I'm obsessed, and encouraging my grand kids to be as well when it comes to cars - they'll probably get these cars eventually and then it will be up to them how they are used and cared for.

I've had my Z now for a little over 2 years (8k miles) and I have only driven it when I was sure it wasn't gonna rain. And to be honest, it hasn't gotten wet... At all. I've only washed it a few times. The previous owner took similar care of the car.

I've had sp500s on the car 4 months now and they have seen a drop at all.
My previous vette got caught in the rain and I had permant acid rain marks that never came out. Subtle but very visible in certain light.

My paint is perfect, and the car looks freshly detailed all the time. Keeping it that way is pretty easy if you keep it out of the rain.

I had to have a long talk with my 'vette when I bought it. It had been someone else's garage queen. I told it that if it came home with me it would have to earn it's keep. It said it didn't care as long as I promised to drive it every day. So far it has worked out great .... rain or shine, every day. I started late and have too much Corvette'n to catch up on. I can't just drive it when the sun shines!
