Well it finally happened, have owned my 03 coupe
for 4 months and it had not seen rain. Checked Atlanta
forecast this morning, 10% chance so out i went and yes it rained.
Not hard just enough. So back home and 1 hour later with
Meguiars detailer and some towels good as new.
Any of you have a better method, i wont do car washes
and hand wash is not allowed at my condo complex

I would never use detail spray and towels to clean my car after driving in the rain. I also never use common towels only microfiber towels. If you cannot wash the car in your condo, try one of the coin op car washes. Take a couple of buckets, car shampoo wash mate and good microfiber drying towels. Don't use the brush at the wash. Use the wand to rinse the car, fill the bucket with soapy water and wash by hand, than the wand again to rinse the soap. Finally dry it and you are good to go.

I drive mine in the Rain, Snow and what ever else nature can send my way, All I do to clean mine up is use water and dry it. Maybe once a year I use soap, You can try one of those car washes with the wand using low pressure. Works for me.

By the way, Rain won't hurt the car...
I agree with TR6. Detail spray is best for minor cleanups like bird poop and bug splatters.
By the way, I recently bought some silicone wipers at tirerack.com. They come as wiper/blade combos, so installation takes minutes. Silicone blades should far outlast the OEM rubber blades.
1. You must feel awful.....but just put you feelings aside for one moment and think how your Corvette feels. Yeah, you REALLY screwed up. You really don’t deserve ownership of this fine automobile.
2. When it start raining, did you pull over immediately in the nearest parking lot?.....maybe wait for rain to stop and streets to dry?......maybe find a place to get a cup of coffee or a food establishment, maybe a library to do some research on the negative effects of driving the finest sports car made in the rain.....NOOOOOOOO, you continued driving, see #1 above.
3. You live in a Corvette UNFRIENDLY Establishment. Can’t hand wash her? For all things sacred, MOVE!! – Get out immediately. see #1 ABOVE.
4. Hopefully I made you feel bad about this......so much that you will Never, Never take her out if there is ANY chance of rain. see #1 above.
5. If you have got to #5 and haven’t wanted to kick my @ss yet, then you win! Kidding about #1-#4. Give her some TLC clean her up good and promise her you won’t do it again and it will all be good.
I never understood the concept of the "car never having seen rain".
What about previous owners, did they drive it in the rain ?
Even if they didn't, what about the dealership where it was first bought, I am sure they had it parked outside.
Even if they didn't, chances are the car got rained on at Bowling Green after it was built on during transportation to the dealership.
OMG....the car got wet. drive the dam thing.. The harder you push it, the better it will treat you...No offense intended, just my forty years of observation...
Happy New Years!!!
No matter how careful you have been or will be, some big ole' teamster loaded it on a truck or train (tri or bi-level) and it bounced, banged and just got hammered on the trip to the dealer. if it rained, it got wet. If there was snow and ice it got coated. Agree on car washes, most are not equipped to handle the Vette anyhow. Coin wash will do until you find someplace that allows you to wash your baby (girlfriend, Mom & Dad, buddy?).

I think you may have gotten an answer regarding an alternate method to keep it clean. You also got some good natured ribbing. It's all in fun and is really poking at the obsessiveness most of us share about these cars. I really would encourage you to follow the advice given about not "dry" washing your car with quick detailer....it will wreak havoc on the clear coat as it will grind in sand and dirt that comes with rain water picked up off the streets. Nothing wrong with wanting to keep it clean and taking pride in your ride.
Sorry I replied so harshly. So many vette owners seem to take pride in never having seen rain...snow...ice...volcanic eruptions...whatever...
I just do not get it. It is a commuter car...
Happy New Year!!!

I won't back my vette out of the VetteCave while it is raining, but if I get caught out in the rain,,,no big deal! Just another excuse for a bath,,,,yeah, like I need one!

When mine gets dirty, I take it to a coin-op car wash and wash it myself. Never had it hurt the paint, gets the undercarriage and wheel wells clean and then just dry it off.
I don't look for rain but if it happens I'm not going to panic. It might even be a few days before I get around to the washing. It's going to get clay barred pretty soon and an orbital waxing so the next rain event shouldn't be a big deal.
