Our condo complex catches rainwater for use in our irrigation system, a big deal in frequently dry atlanta.
Thus the restriction on car wash, bermuda grass does not
like chemicals
I never understood the concept of the "car never having seen rain".
What about previous owners, did they drive it in the rain ?
Even if they didn't, what about the dealership where it was first bought, I am sure they had it parked outside.
Even if they didn't, chances are the car got rained on at Bowling Green after it was built on during transportation to the dealership.
and i'm more than certain that the dealer who sold it (how ever many times that might have been) washed it at least once (and probably even more) while it was there.
Way back in my young and festering youth, I had a 77 Z28. Traded a 73 and some cash for it. It was only a couple years old with 6 thou on it but the factory paint was bad. I stripped and refinished the whole car including all those goofy decals. It didn't go in the rain either and it was only a Camaro.
So, I remember picking up this girl I was dating.. It was raining and I showed up in my Chevy truck. She asked what was wrong with my car and I said nothing...I don't drive it in the rain. She thought I was kidding or something.
What she didn't know was I had taken it out in the rain once before for a first date with another girl. When I got her home I reached across for the kiss goodnight. She flipped out saying something about cutting my tounge off if I did that again. Needless to say that was the first and last date. Never could justify taking it out in the rain again after that one.
So I can relate. Like an old boss used to tell me. "Some guys like their cars more than their wives."
it rained the night i brought mine home for the first time...surprised the wife when she walked outside for "date night"...went and had a nice dinner at Olive Garden...came out?? soaked parking lot!!!! Light sprinkle continued.
Choices:
1. Tell the wife that Date Night is over due to rain?<---wife
2. Proceed in the rain and receive "marital bliss" later?
THE CLEAR ANSWER IS NUMBER #2!!!! Happy Ending first, wash Vette later!
I drive mine in the Rain, Snow and what ever else nature can send my way, All I do to clean mine up is use water and dry it. Maybe once a year I use soap, You can try one of those car washes with the wand using low pressure. Works for me.
Mr.Bill
By the way, Rain won't hurt the car...
30% or less chance of rain - I drive the vette, more and she stays in the garage.
Funny thing (to me anyway), couple years ago the wife and I took a road trip to Key West, was fretting about being caught in the rain on the trip - to this day I still can't belive not a drop the whole two weeks
