i have a full optioned 99 coupe with 25,000 miles 3.42 axle and all. it would be considered near mint in every way. anyway, i drove my friends 99 coupe with 105,000 miles and his car pulls harder in 2nd and 3rd gear and i believe he could walk me with ease. his car is bone stock and mine is also except for ghl catback.........why?
thats what gets me, im the one with the catback (louder, you know , zoom zoom). he has 80,000 more miles than mine. other then my catback cars are stock. both cars are 99's and 6 speed. my car runs like a raped ape but his seems to rev easier and pull harder. he drove mine first and mentioned it and i drove his and verified it..... its not night and day difference but it is a noticable difference.

Clean your MAF sensor,,,makes a big diff in throttle response if it is dirty!
i have 6 vehicles. my corvette is just a weekend toy that i dont drive very often or very far for that matter. maybe the mileage is the factor between our cars. you would think that the lower mileage car would be stronger.......ls1= tough as a pine knot.......

There could be a couple of reasons.
1. He don't know the history of the car and it has more, Like a Tune and such.
2. He has a 1 of a kind C5.
3. You have a Lemon.
Just some thoughts.

Maybe its all in my head, but when i baby my 3series for a while or let someone else drive it it is noticeably less responsive and seems weaker the first couple times i really get on it afterwards, the transmission also shifts differently. Now when i get in a hurry or just get bored on the way home and start pushing it everything changes, better response, seemingly more power different tranny shift points (this is all without putting it in sport mode). I know the 3 series can learn how you drive and learn how you want it to shift(if you use the manumatic mode), i do now know if the program in the vette is adaptable like that.
If he's driven aggressively the cars whole life his motor and other bits could have worn in differently, I've also been told that the extremely high strung engine in the m3 wont really break in until after 30k+ miles.
