Im sorry but I disagree. You should get 35 with headers and tune.
If you read my post carefully, I just stated that a tune for a couple hundred bucks will get you 15-20 HP without the headers anyway. So mathematically if you get 15 HP without the headers and 35 with the headers= 20HP difference the headers will make, which is exactly my point: 20 HP is not worth $1500
I don't disagree with you with the HP gain combined.
Thanks for clarifying. I don't quite understand, but got your point that time and its well made.

I'm kinda leaning towards headers right now. I've already got polished thinspokes, so it's not like they're an ugly wheel, per say. Now, if I had wagon wheels, then I might be singing a different tune!

Just like noticing a new hair cut, I vote wheels. It's something you can visibly see everyday and will put a smile on your face. Headers and tune can come later.
Ok. Do you plan on doing any performance mods to the car at all in the future. Yes, than get longtubes now as you will need them for really any gain later. Remember the car needs to breathe out what its breathing in. Wheels, yes they look great, but if you dont get a nice set, they will be heavier, thus hendering performance. How much $$$ you spend per horsepower, headers and tune is a great mod. If you dont like that 35 hp costs $1400, then dont go to the power levels that the H/C and FI guys go to either. The $$$ per horsepower ratio increases tremendously.
Longtubes wake the car up! Hell, you put the wheels on...others look at it and say "yup, thats nice....or sweeeet". However your not enjoying them because you are driving. Longtubes you can enjoy because your driving it and can feel the difference. people will also hear the exhaust note differently compared to stock.

Not when driving.....
Very good points! Thanks for the input! As far as future performance mods go, there is a possibility that I would do a cam down the road at some point, but it is definitely not high on my priority list right now. A cam would be it too. No heads or forced induction.

NP. If you are considering a cam, longtubes are a must as your car needs to breathe better. Also, when you are getting a cam, get something in the 228 range. Dont go to radical because you will loose driveability. Getting a custom spec cam is always the best, but if you go get an off the shelp cam, shove a TSP 228R in that thing
Headers!!! You already have Vararam and Corsa's,,headers complete the package and with all three I think you are going to be closer to 40-45 with a good tune..IMO thin spokes look pretty good to start with,,and with headers completing the package,,you will enjoy the results every time you step on the gas whereas you only see the wheels when it is sitting still. For me,,no contest!! C5bears fan has some quality American made stainless headers at a very affordable price,no need to go $1500-$2000!!

The only thing you are leaving out here is the torque, i put lg superpros on my 04z and noticed a big difference in low end torque. dont know how they perform on an ls1 but helps an ls6 also these cars sound great with lt headers JMO

I vote wheels only because your gonna step on that gas a few times then get bored with the power. With a set of beautiful wheels the looks will always be there. Is your car lowered yet?
