the facoty schematics shows 3 fuses that control the theft detterent system. Check in your passenger floor board for fuses # 45 and # 50 both are big fuses for ignition and starter, and fuse # 14 which is a 10A fuse.
The manual also refers to the body control module. It says that if you disconnect the battery or re-connect the battery with the key in any other position than off, you may have damaged the body control module. BCM.
That's according to the factory service manual.

How can you tell if #45 or #50 are bad?
And what is a body control module?
I am pretty positive the key was in my pocket when I disconnected the battery
hmmm. well I have no idea why the hell this happened..
Any idea what could cause the security system to lock?
I did not touch any wires in the car.
All of the wiring I did was on the plugs outside the car.
The only thing I did on the car was put the mini fuse tap into the fuse box.
Other than that, noting was done to the car aside from the normal things that need to be unplugged to remove the bezel/console.
Any way to clear the security system?

you need a voltmeter to check the fuses if they are open. sometimes you can see the break in the plastic part on smaller fuses.
is it possible that you are tryingto start the car while the doors are armed? did you try to unlock the doors with the remote then start the car ? Sorry my friend I am fishing for resolutions here and I am running out of ideas. One thing I know for sure, it's not the radio. Something else happened and now the car is not recognizing your key sine you say the security light flashes when you ry to crank it.

I don't think the security light while i am trying to crank it. I think it lights up solid. I will have to double check tomorrow
No prob. I will take all the help I can get. Anything you can think of I will try.
Yeah the doors are unlocked.
so far I have tried.....
disconnecting the battery cable
cleaning both keys
Trying both keys
reinstalled the factory radio
plugged in the active handling/cig/etc for bezel and console
I have not tried checking those security fuses yet.
I gave up tonight.
I will check them tomorrow.
I am hoping some others might post up by tomorrow who have had similar issues.
I have never had a single issue with the security alarm until I tried installing the radio today

What year is your car? Is it an auto or stick?
If it's auto, try putting it in neutral and starting it. If it's manual, make sure you move any floor mats out of the way and press the clutch ALL THE WAY to the floor.
Try a different battery. If the problem still exists, remove the floor mat from the passenger side. Open the access door to the expose the module under the passenger side door. Make sure all those connectors are tight. Wiggle all the wires going into the plugs that go into that module.
I had some issues over this past summer that made me think the battery was at the end of it's life, but the issues continued with a brand new battery installed. I kept getting a clicking noise from the passenger footwell, and the display kept "stuttering" when I turned the key, like it would peg the guages and stop continuously until I took the key out.
I still haven't figured out what caused it, but it hasn't happened since the summer.
Good luck!

Did you remove the bezel to fit the radio?
If so there's a black wire that clips onto the bezel by the ignition switch. It sends the VATS signal from the ignition switch to the PCM. If its not connected properly the security light will stay on and the fuel enable signal is inhibited.

I honestly do not think the battery has anything to do with it. I am putting out 13 volts. I even tried a battery booster on it.
Yes I removed the bezel.
I noticed the black wire on the side of the ignition.
It is all still connected. I wiggled it around a bit and it seems to be fine.
Is there any way to reset the codes on the DIC? Will it tell me what the issue is?

FIXED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you all for helping my dumb ***.
Somehow I accidentally knocked out the #14 fuse.
It was barely hanging in there.
Pushed it back and the car fired up.
Now back to the other thread where I can't get the new radio working.
oops

I know it can be intimidating, but it's simple in concept... power, signal, output. Constant power maintains your settings, switched power makes it operate, signal is from antenna, cd, tape, etc, and output are your speakers.
Engines are much more complicated!

You have no idea how many times we (yes, most of us) have been idiots and just never admitted it.
Sometimes it just takes a different eye to spot what is obvious and we're just too close to see.
