Shocks bad?

Thanks killain! When I had the wheels off the car the other day, I did notice that the shocks had grime on them, but I don't think it was fluid. I am pretty sure as mentioned above that the car was lowered and the noise I am hearing is being caused by the previous owner attempting to lower it. Going to adjust the front spring Friday morning.

Sorry I haven't updated before now. I did raise the front up and after taking it for a ride, the thud or clunk is nearly gone. I do however get it once in awhile, so now I am trying to figure out how to tell where it is coming from. Any ideas on how to figure it out?
One other question. What is the STOCK measurements on the leaf springs, as far as the ride height? Hope I am explaining that right...
