I am sure that I am not the only one who finds the search engine in this forum makes it very hard to find what you are looking for. I have found if I just search Google with the same words I get straight to what I need in this forum.
This forum is great, I just find I can get what I need much easier by searching Google to get there.
If you use the Advanced Search function, you can narrow down your search pretty specifically.
I agree completely. The advanced search lets you refine the search much better. You have to try using the different options to understand what they can and cannot do for you.
OR, use Google. It actually does pretty well finding stuff on here.
Down side of doing that is that if you are logged into the forum, open another window to search via google, find a hit that you like and click on it you end up getting a session to the Forum that is not logged in and when you go back to your original window that was logged in you are now logged off.

I always use the Advanced search but you are correct that Google does a good job on forum question. As already mentioned if you cannot find what you are looking for just post your question and you will get answers although there are some here that will jump on it and tell you to use the Search Function in not to nice of a way.
Down side of doing that is that if you are logged into the forum, open another window to search via google, find a hit that you like and click on it you end up getting a session to the Forum that is not logged in and when you go back to your original window that was logged in you are now logged off.
Not so....I use Chrome though, maybe thats it....
If I search in chrome a new tab opens that I am already logged into and doesn't effect the original tab.....

Worst search forum on a forum...I've ever seen

??? Set your computer to stay logged in. I haven't had to log in again since I joined 6 months ago.
learning how to use the search function is helpful...lots of trial and error to learn what terms to use....9 times out of 10 I find what I need and then some I just have lots of practice.
Could it be better? Probably. If any of you have suggestions on how to make it better post them up in the Help section and they will be looked at.
Part of the problem is the titles people use, like "HELP", "?????", or "What's this". If you put specifically what your post is about in the title it's easier to search.
I do find that if you use Google and use "corvette forum" in your search terms, it goes right to the forum answers for your search terms. Like "column lock bypass corvette forum".
Also, as far as the logged out issue. I stay logged in and open another Internet Explorer page and that opens logged in too. Then I can tab back and forth between the two to copy information.

My experience has been that most of the time I can eventually find what I want using the forum search function, but there are times it is very frustrating. Google does help in some of those cases.
