Hey guys, my '02 has a problem that I haven't seen discussed on the forum before.
One wheel sensor displays 30 psi no what the tire pressure is, low or high. The 30 psi display is unchanging.
Anyone have a cure?
Thanks,
Jim
If you have tried varying the tire pressure and you're sure they were programmed in the correct order so that you're changing the same tire that shows on the display and nothing is changing, the only thing that makes sense to me is that the diaphragm in the sensor that measures the change in pressure is stuck. By "bouncing" the wheel and tire over a bumpy road, it may free up. If not, you need a new sensor. It's obviously transmitting or you wouldn't get the 30 psi reading. I am assuming that since you said it was one tire, that you have driven the car to activate the sensors and the others are working. If not, drive a couple of miles on the road to activate them and see what your readings are. They won't change just when the pressure changes without driving.
The car has been driven far enough and often enough for the the wheel sensors to register correctly, and the pressure in that tire has been lowered and raised.
I'll try 65GGvette's bumpy road tip--lord knows they are easy to find around here.
If you've already driven it a good bit, I'd say the pressure sensing inside the TPMS is bad and will need to be replaced. Won't hurt to try though. You might also try inflating the tire up to say 40 lbs and drive the car to see if that will move the membrane and free it up.
I once had a sensor that acted like that.
Deflating and reinflating the tire would usually get it working again.
Replacing the sensor worked the best, though. <g>

dan k.
That was my thought. The battery must be still pushing out something to the RFA or you'd be getting XXX on the DIC.
Try pushing it up to max pressure (44 psi+) and see if you can induce an over pressure. Then deflate the tire and try agin. If that doesn't shift it, I guess it's dead and it's a replacement.

Might kill the sensor then you'll get the Service Light with XXXX.
Replacement time is near. Gene has some great prices for Four TPMS for C5's. Check him out. Good Luck.>George
