Default Front fender flare question

Hello,

I recently came across a post for front fender flares that allow up to a 315 tire. I have not been able to find it again to ask a question. I am wondering how you can fit that wide of a tire. I currently have a 275 and it appears to be pretty tight. I understand the rear because they go straight out. However, how do the fronts fit without hitting when you turn. do you have to run spacers? Would that not change the turning characteristics?

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you,

Mark G.

Why do you want or need one that wide up front?

Lots of road racers do it.

I will be going with 2" fender flares in the rear with a 335 30 18. I originally decided to widen my rear rims. I then decided I would put my rear 10.5" rims in the front and widen the front 9.5" rims to 12". I would probably not go with a 315 in the front, however a 305 would probably be good. I have always been from the school of though that the more rubber to the ground the better handling.

So I guess the question is, can I fit a 10.5" rim in the front and what is the widest tire I can go with the stock fenders?

I don't know how big you can go in the front, but L5 or Lewis-five makes a wide front fender flare as well.

I dunno man.

I guess like some have said on here that they may be good for occasional road racing or whatnot.

I wouldnt think that a front tire that wide would be a good idea for a daily driven street car.

You dont see any supercar manufacturers putting tires that wide up front.

I can tell you that I run a 275/30/18 in the front, and a 315/30/18 in the rear and it makes my traction control go nuts. I turn it off and its ok but just a FYI

to much of a variation in rolling diameters will freak the system out.

I run 18x305 or 18x315 up front. and 18x335 in the back

However, -2.5* Camber too.

only have 1" fender flair in the rear for the 18x335/30 tires on an 18x13 rim. ( -1* camber )

Now I would not drive this on the street as that is too wide. on a race track at speeds above 60 mph it feels like a slot car on rails.

at slow speeds super wide tires feel like a pig in the mud

Never found that a wide variation of tire diameters caused AH / TC problems at slow speeds.

Only found that identical tires sized did. But turning AH/TC OFF cured that problem.

Our cars handle best with identical tires and sizes n all four corners.

I think if you widen your fronts 2" your going to have to tub the car or widen the on the front which i don't know if that is possible. I have rears widened to 11.5" and run the 10.5" rears up front which work great with a 305/660/18 or a 305/345/18 up front

Can you tell me why it feels like a pig with the 335 tire. Are you talking about acceleration or handling or both? Also, the 315 clears in the front?
