I think there has been enough replies here, but for what it's worth (and my math is worse than an IRS auditor) I get 18 city 28 highway and that is exactly the same as I get in my xj6 with a 4l straight six and slightly less than my old Mercedes 300c with a straight 6. The vette mileage is actually better on the highway than the doofus ford focus I begged my father not to buy as his daily. he could have gotten the same mileage from a previously loved C5 and I think it pisses him off a little.
I keep reminding him that senior citizens with corvettes are 99% less likely to suffer depression as they get older because no matter what, they have something exciting to live for.
Wifes 02 z51 gets right at 31 at 70mph but realistically stay around 78-80mph and still gets around 29-30mpg only mod k&n cai borla exhaust
Mine 02 z06 bout 28 at 70mph around 26 keeping up with traffic around 80mph,bad around town cuz I cant stay out of it but that was bone stock only magnaflows, even stock crappy filter, I havnt did the math but I can tell I did pick up alot after installing vararam cai, I have about a 40 mike roynd trip to work everyday also

I went from a C3 ('69 big block 427 - 390HP) that I had for 27 years. Loved that old car, but after driving my C5 for almost 10 years now, I'd never go back. The 69 was fun, but hot, rough, ridgid, noisy, and got 12-15 mpg. The C5 is fast, comfortable, reliable, a blast to drive, and gets almost 30 mpg on the highway and I average 23 mpg in town. Zuti

I'll have to keep telling that to members of my family, tilll they plant me.
2004 Z06 averaged 26.7 mpg on 1200 mile round trip to FL. Cruised at 75 most of the time, and ran air conditioner some. That includes a 50 mile side trip on A1A just to insure the fragile black paint got the maximum abuse.
Some people say that if we are pleased with good mileage we shouldn't drive a corvette.
I disagree.
I enjoy a fast car and have raced them, but for a daily driver every trip is not a race. Frequently I travel on Interstate highways for a lot of miles. If I can have a fast fun car that gets good mileage too then why not? I want both mileage and performance.

19 or 20 rural 25 or 26 highway. I don't push it hard very often. Highways around here are not level. Nothing around here is level. Strange thing is my 6000 pound diesel truck is about the same and my 4 cyl Sky is not much better.
I beat the crap out my 03Z and roll to the rev-limiter all the time. I'm averaging over 20MPG right now. My car is running really rich (even getting codes thrown about it) and I'm getting between 26-ish on the freeway and 19 on the streets.
I just did a pencil and paper calculation with three tanks of gas and I came up with 15 mpg. Obviously the wife and I are still having too much fun. No kidding, 15 mpg. Have only had the car eight months though.
