I secured the harness to the floor seat studs in the rear and ran the harness up behind and over the roll bar crossbar then through the Sparco seatback. The lap belt was bolted through a 3/8" hole provided in the seat track frame for the lap belt hardware.
maybe i missed it...but wouldnt there be 6 mounting points? shoulders attached to the bar, then the lap would bolt to the rear and the 2 sub belts would attach to the front?
Also, If you used the seat mounting bolts for the rear, why not the same with the front?
Thanks!!
The floor mounting hardware as well as the side strap hardware should come with your harness. There are two types. Bolt down or clip on. If the harness did not come with the harness you will need to purchase them from a store the supplies racing safety products.
The bolt down do just that. Bolt down. Drill through the flood of your car. Use grade 8 bolts and a large flat fender washer on the outside For the clip on type. You will need to purchase a eyebolt mounting kit. From the same racing supply store and do the same floor drilling. Check the Internet racing supply stores. For harness and mounting. I like the clip on type. This allows me to Easley remove the harness if needed
I drilled right through the floor on my porsche. All the wires. Brake lines etc. were in the center console and the base area by door. Just pull carpet back around the drill area to double check Clearance
Just straight through the floor? Nothing I need to worry about drilling through?
The floor of your C5 is a sheet of balsa wood with a thin layer of aluminum covering both sides of the balsa wood. DO NOT drill through the floor and expect the seat belts to hold. Run a cross bar (angle iron or whatever) between the two rear seat mount bolts and hook the sub belts to that. You can also get brackets that mount to the rear seat bolts for hooking sub belts to.
DO NOT drill through the floor PLEASE! I removed the seat bracket and cut the carpet away from around the seat rear mounting stud to give me additional room to install the shoulder strap mounting hardware. That seat stud is secured to the metal frame of the car.
Im guessing that you may be tracking your car someday soon? with the added belts, roll bar, harness etc. most of the race tracks require roll over protection on your vehicle. mounting the harness to your seat mount may be allowed in parking lot style auto cross and some time trial applications. but is not allowed in racing. all harnesses must be mounted separtely from the seat. I have seen large plates mounted to the underside of the car to support the lap & front belts But if your just cruzing around the street with the harness then the mounting to the seat stud as said above by SFE Rick is the way to go.
do I need a special mount for a Crow Clip in harness with Sparco Evo 2's?
Someone who is selling the harnesses to me said she needed Brey Krause Lap Belt Mount Kit for her carvaggio seats. Do I need anything special?
