Default TPMS Install Question

Found a really nice set of basically new GY RFs on Z06 aftermarket rims for less than I could buy the tires for. They do not have sensors installed. I notice OEs cost about $75-100 a piece, yet places like TireRack sell all four for $158. Does anyone have experience with aftermarket sensors? Are the OEs worth twice the price?

Thanks

I used OEM TPSs for my new rims and I've never had a problem. I've heard quite a few members who have said they fitted Costco TPSs and I've not heard any negative feedback. Maybe no news is good news?

The only negative I heard was from one member who fitted a single after market TPS with 3 other Delco sensors and he struggled to get it to work.

You could buy the sensors and see if they will program before you fit them. They dont have to be fitted to do that. If you do, either make sure they go in the correct wheel or reprogram them once ftted.

BTW, OEM sensors for an 02 should be less than $75 each.

Why buy new nuts for the TPMS? I would think that the old nuts would work perfectly. Just as well save $16.

Actually I think that cost is for a rebuild kit, which includes an o-ring, nut and cap. The o-ring is the most important part as removing the one already seated is non usable.

I called it an o-ring, perhaps the appropriate name is grommet.

The '01 sensor has a grommet shown in the picture, one of mine was replaced yesterday when they replaced the QF5 wheel with a brand new QF5 wheel (original cracked from hit/run). I watched them peel off the old one and install a new one.

Interesting...
