I am still trying to search for that perfect vette, and I found this one but its like a 5-6 hour drive. Think it's worth it or should I keep waiting and saving up for a larger down payment? Right now I can throw atleast 4.5k down.
I absolutely love Navy Blue, and targa top 6spd is a must aswell. Also since its a dealership im fairly certain they can get me a loan easier. So do yall think it's worth it or wait a few more months for it to get warmer and see what kinda deals pop up? Only thing that really worries me is they don't seem to of cleaned the car up much. You would think that would be something to do when you're trying to sell a corvette =/
Car looks good. A bit much for the the year and mileage. I paid less than that for my 02 with less miles and all the options.
Looks like the car is not optioned at all, and the HUD was added after the fact.
Keep in mind that if the EBCM goes out on you on a 97-00, you are talking big money since they cannot be repaired, and replacements are getting more and more scarce.
You would think for an upholstery shop, they would have the carpet straightened out a bit more in the trunk.
This should be a $10k to $11k car because it's a base model and the miles.
It may be worth the drive if you feel they are willing to take that much for it IMHO.
Looks like they have been trying to sell it for a few weeks. How do I talk down on a price and then be like oh ya I need a loan lol. Anybody got some pointers for that one?
I REALLY want an 01 navy blue or 02 electron blue 6spd coupe, but those are sooooo hard to find and within a few hours of Omaha aswell =/ But if yall think I would be better off waiting then I certainly can. Just not sure if what I want will pop up when it starts getting warmer or not. Prices are probably high around here aswell.
But it would be a GREAT 21st bday present to myself haha.
Looks pretty clean and in good shape. Have you checked the carfax? I would also take the VIN number to your local chev dealer and they can run it and give you a service report history of anything that may be in their data base. I would see if you can get a local forum member or vette club member from that area to go set eyes on the car and give you an in person impression. Make a list of things for them to look at for you....tire condition, pull any codes from the computer, how many keys/key fobs....etc. All of these little things can add up in a big way. Also...try to get a loan yourself from a local bank or credit union...that way you are coming in prepared and you remove that entire process from the equation of buying a car. Next....send the dealer an email...ask about the car...did they take it on trade, how many owners, any issues...and then just come right out and ask..."what can you do on price for me?".....that will start the dialogue on price. Take your time and research this vette and any potential vette thoroughly before you buy. Also..expand your search .....it is worth it to travel a little longer distance to get a super clean vette over any piece of _$_@ that is local to you.
Good luck and keep us posted.
If you really like the car, first send a mechanic to check it out....and if all is well, make him an offer.....several thousand dollars lower. If he takes your offer, don't drive but fly there and drive home. Good luck.
If you make the trip, I'd suggest you talk with them about the car at length to make sure you know what you're driving for. In my search, I drove 3 hrs to look at what appeared to be a beautiful car and was told it was in good shape. We brought it back from test drive in a cloud of oil smoke and no less than 5 significant problems. The dealer just shrugged. You can't know it all, but more questions are better. Maybe somebody on the site is closer and can drive by for a quick look for you.
I'm in with the high price , but distance has nothing to do with it ,if you like it, have it looked at buy a reliable place and bring her home , I found mine in California and I live in Ottawa , 5200kms away. Look at the distance has an adventure, me and my wife drove it from LA and had a blast.Ron
I'd have to see the car in person but I don't like the paint on the front (appears to be scuffed), the carpet in the rear raises suspicion that something is wrong back there, and I personally prefer a regular suspension over the select-a-ride. A regular suspension is much more affordable to maintain. Otherwise, it seems to be in decent shape. The price does need adjustment.

Wait! That's priced too high for that car. If you're going to need a loan go to your bank or credit union and get pre-approved first before you look at any cars. Good luck...
i drove 880 miles for my 93. ask all questions over the phone prior to the trip. get the answers that you are interested in. if the salesman starts stuttering and mumbling then he is not representing the truth. work out a final price over the phone. i have bought 2 from long distance and have not had any issues. if you have questions about what you see in the pictures, ask. make him tell you about his car.
if you decide to go look at the car after all of this, (i drove a rental car one way and then drove the vette home), if you get there and the car is not what you expected drive the rental back. GL
Bought my 99 Verte 4 brand new tires, loaded, 68k miles $12,995 two weeks ago. Known problem at the time of purchase was oil pressure sensor (well documented proble here).
Took months of research but found it, Patience pays off in the end.
Unless they have their own financing, which AFAIK is only the big dealers (like OEM's and maybe Carmax?), they won't be able to get you anything that you can't get yourself. I found much better financing through the local credit union than the small dealership could get me through their bank of choice.
As far as negotiating the price and asking for a loan, even if you do go through them, there's nothing wrong with that. If they want to sell the car, they'll settle on the right price. Getting you a loan is no skin off their back.
