I've been thinking about this thread and about altenators in general. I'm an old dude and drove cars with generators and voltage regulators. When they started putting altenators on cars I thought it was rocket science and that they were really custom or trick looking compared to the old black generator they replace. I've never thought the altenator was ugly. They look cooler all polished, plated or powder coated. But to me they are like a cast aluminum custom upgrade to any engine compartment.
