The FRC is the only C5 that has all 3 frame supports. so it was the ideal choice for this MOD.

Plus the car is way more fun now

I hate you so much (Read: I'm so insanely jealous it's not even funny).

Seriously, I could look at your vette all day.

Flex in what? As in the frame flexing?

If it's about the frame it's been mentioned that the C5 was designed to be a convertible and it simply came down to attaching a different roof for whichever trim you wanted.

Good work using the FRC so that the frame integrity wouldn't be comped under high torque loads. I'd say it looks factory stock, but since these are GM cars, I guess it looks better than that.

And to answer any other questions. The frame is stronger in FRC then any other C5 vette. This car has a 600 HP 408 ci motor. and is on a road course all the time. Just let me know is you have any other questions.

Thanks, Eric

To the OP, the conversion looks great! I always like how these conversions turn out. Good job.

the C5 frame is incredibly stiff no matter if it has a top or not. You will note that they no longer make FRC's for the C6.

I dont know how I missed this thread when it was originally posted..... BUT
IT LOOKS AWESOME! Like some said, It should have come from the factory like that. I think if all FRC owner saw that you would have a ton of takers on the mod. I can imagine it wasnt cheap for you to do but it looks very well done. Absolutely incredible to look at. I haven't seen one like that ever and I was just : smiliedrool: at the pics! I just cant state how much I like the look of the removable top on an FRC

That maybe true, but I never took the Targa off my 2nd C5 and I had that car 4 1/2 years. I wouldn't do that mod to my FRC if you paid me to do it.

One day driving in the town where I live I was passed by a black FRC with the targa roof off. I was stunned. It looked so damn good. I've never seen the car again, but corresponded with the owner here on the forum. It's something I've thought about for a long time, since my first C5 was a targa coupe and I miss the removable roof. That would complete my car. Excellent job and I'm jealous! How hard is this to do for someone with a lot of car building skills and what is the $ investment parts wise? I've built a prize winning street rod so I've got plenty of tools and I like challenges.
