Default C5 chrome wheel/tire set value? 17x8.5, 18x9.5 w/Goodyear GS-D3 Eagle F1's

Hello all. New to the forum with a question regarding a set of wheels someone I know is wanting to sell.

He purchased these chrome wheels/tires new from Mid-America Motorworks (Effingham, IL) a few years ago (fall of '09 is what he said) for a Corvette C5 he had at the time. Before he even had a chance to mount the set on the car though, he sold the car. Since then, the entire set has been stored in his garage.

So: never even bolted to a car, never seen a lugnut, tires still have all those new rubber nips and pieces of the stickers on the treads, mounted/balanced and ready to go, even have Corvette valve stem caps and Corvette emblem centercaps.

Front: 17" w/245/45ZR-17 Goodyear GS-D3 Eagle F1 (offset=56)
Rear: 18" w/275/40ZR-18 Goodyear GS-D3 Eagle F1 (offset=65)

He's asking me to post them on Ebay for him, and he's curious what he should consider a fair current value to place on them.

(The small specs you see on the chrome in the pics are water droplets. It had just started to lightly snow when we moved them from the heated garage outside for the pictures, and the flakes were melting.)

See the entire photo album here. http://s300.photobucket.com/albums/n...0Ebay%20items/

The plan is to post them on eBay tomorrow night 2/13/12, so any input between now and then would be appreciated. Or, if you know of anyone who may be interested, I can provide the sellers phone number and we could avoid Ebay and their outrageous fees altogether.

Thanks for reading,

Patrick

Where are they located? I think the forum rules state you have to post a price, but if you put them on ebay you can post a link. I would be interested if you are near NC where I could pick them up and not ship. Do they have TPMS and if so, new or old style sensors?

Well, the subject of price is why I was posting in the first place, ie; my friend being curious what a good starting point for his Ebay auction would be. He's just trying to be fair, and I simply have no idea.

I'd suggested that I could also post them in a classifieds section of a forum/message board like this, but he'd still need a starting point for price in those ads, and is why I didn't post them yet in the classifieds. Plus, it seemed like it'd be more democratic to ask everyone for such a suggestion rather than just those who may be interested in buying them, because we all know that's when the lowballers come out of the woodwork.

This set is located in southern Illinois, and my friend did not remember TPMS being mentioned when he bought the set, so he was inclined to think that these were not so equipped.

I'll post links in this thread to the eBay auction and the classifieds ad on this site when available.

I think you are ok with that price...tires $500....wheels $500...they are stock sizes, not too popular anymore as runflats, but all being brand new and stored I see no issues.

Nice looking set of tires and wheels. I'd say you're close on the price.

Will most likely be re-listing the auction for the wheels/tires in the near future, but in the meantime, if you or anyone you know who may be interested wants to make an offer, feel free to do so here.

The possibility of meeting the winning bidder half-way (within a reasonable distance), or meeting the owner on either April 13th or 14th in Memphis, TN at the 2012 Memphis Super Chevy Show to take delivery in person to help save on shipping costs would still stand.

Sounds like a good price for the set. Good luck on getting them sold.

Those tires are the Eagle GS D3 non-runflats that Goodyear no longer makes in the 18" size for the rears of our cars.

There should be high demand for those tires.

I'd not been aware of their current availability, only that the person who wrote the following review considered them to be superior in performance to most of the other tires for Corvettes he'd tested.

zr1netregistry.com Eagle F1 GS-D3 tire review

Maybe the person out there currently looking for some of these tires just didn't search Ebay last week, and will find them when the auction get's relisted. That's how it goes sometimes.

Agree, hope he advertised that they were the GS D3's. If it weren't for the tires getting old and my tires only having 4K miles on them I would buy them and use them when my current GS D3's wear out.

I ended up adding that to the auction description, and will also be adding the link to the zr1registry.com tire review article when the auction is relisted.

While we're waiting to relist the wheel/tire combo on Ebay, they are available for $1650 OBO if anyone here is interested.

For shipping quotes, use the following weights and measurements:

Each front wheel/tire combo: 25.25" x 25.25" x 9.75" @ 47 lbs.

Each rear wheel/tire combo: 26.25" x 26.25" x 10.75" @ 50 lbs.

Shipping origin: Zip code 62930

The owner and I have recently been discussing relisting this wheel/tire combo on Ebay. So, if anyone is interested, now might be a good time to make offers since selling them through one of these message boards would mean that the owner wouldn't have to pay any of Ebays' final value fees.

Still available as far as I know, although I believe they are currently being displayed at the speed shop owned by a friend of my friend. If interested, contacting the owner via the number in the original post would be your best bet.
