i got the hub from mike at ati. very nice kit came with the hub quick release and a 2 inch extender all together. i will be getting a resistor for the airbag light.
thanks for all the compliments. i will post updated pics once i finish getting it all together. its gonna look sweet with my new used caravaggio seats.
i finished getting it all back together. im just waiting on my resistor to come in the mail for the airbag so i dont have to look at the light all the time.
What resistor are you using and where did you get it? When I had the miata, I was able to buy a hub and plug in resistor for the air bag... havent seen it offered that way for the vette yet
Very nice. I actually just got a momo jet steering wheel but haven't gotten the hub or harness for the airbag light. 3 questions:
Where can you get the item to fix the airbag light?
How long did the install take and was it difficult?
Did you need the 2 inch extendor because the aftermarket wheel sits further away than the oem?
[QUOTE=ronssito;1580026780]yep, the pillsbury doughboy wheel is a c5's worst interior weakness.
I know there are many that have pointed out the poor quality of the "leather" in our C5's but the steering wheel has got to be an example of the lowest bidder winning out. I would love to get a good wheel from a C3 installed on my '02.

one forum vendor, i forget which, makes a plug and play airbag resistor for the c6 only costs around 40 bucks. as far as i know no one makes one like that for the c5. i bought a 2 ohm 5 w resistor on amazon for 98 cents plus 5 bucks shipping. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...00_i00_details. i havent installed it yet and havent had much luck as far as instructions but from what i understand it will just hook up to the two airbag wires. i will certainly post a how to with pics when im done since i was never able to find one. (assuming i can make it work, that is. electronics arent really my thing.)

see above linik for the resistor.
install took a couple hours. it wasn't that hard and if i knew what i was doing it probably would take that long. i don't think the actual process of getting to and changing the wheel took that long but i took a couple trips to the store for tools. and spent some time cutting and grinding to make the tools work specifically the steering wheel puller. i used the instructions from this thread. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...ns-bummer.html. the only thing from those instructions i would switch is take the bottom part of the steering column shroud off before the two t27 torx screws that hold the airbag on, not after. those 2 screws are a pain to get to with the shroud in the way but it was simple with it gone.
without an extender the steering wheel would be very close to the turn signal stalk and a far reach.
