Default Window Valet Heads-Up.

Hello everyone...
I have had a windows Valet installed for some years without issue....
Well The other day I noticed 2 things not working as they should.
First my doors would not lock with fob or the door button.
Second I noticed my drivers side window would not go up or down using the switches, My first thought was a door module, I checked it and I also checked the wiring between the body and the door and still nothing.
Well I thought maybe, Just maybe the window valet was doing something to my car causing these issues and took it out, Guess what all worked fine with it out, I reinstalled the window valet and all still worked fine.
So if you are having issues as I did and have a window valet be sure to check it before you start removing door panels and such, I am guessing it had a bad connection or was just confused...lol

Good to know. Thanks for posting.

I installed my window valet about 6 months ago with no problems so far.

Great info! Thanks! I've had one for about a year and a half without issue. What a great device!

Good that it wasn't anything serious. I guess just like anything, there can always be a glitch that appears.

Today I had a similar WV issue. Hit the unlock button 3 times to put the windows down. Drivers went down fine but passengers didn't move. Hit the button on the tonneau cover to fold down the top and the window still didn't go down, but it worked fine by using both door switches. Drove to where I was going, put windows up using valet and both went up fine. Came out and hit the unlock button 3 times and both windows lowered just fine. Not sure what it was but it's fixed now!

I've had mine installed since 2004 but my passenger door lock has recently stopped working. I had the original door lock module replaced under warranty so I just assumed the relay had failed again.

I'll try unplugging the window valet and see if it works. Thanks for the heads up Mr Bill.

Edit:

I guess I'm going to have to do the relay fix. No joy on the WV I'm afraid.

FWIW, the barttery in your remote might be getting weak when you start having issues like this. Plugging and replugging devices usually buffs off the contacts and they are more receptive to reception.
It may not be the valet at all, but your remote.

Not the fob battery, As I said I removed the window valet and all is working now, Battery in fob is only 2 months old. I am sure it was the Window Valet causing the issues.

Once in a great while when top is up and I hit the fob 3 times, windows go all the way up and then down again. If I hit the fob again, windows go up and stay up the second time.

Weird, but happens once in a great while.

Sounds like you need to reset your window up limit with the WV.

Your WV needs "configuring". The procedure is in the instructions. Let me know if you lost them as I have an e copy
