I bought my tires from DTD and had the local Discount Tire mount and balance them. $20.00 each, they had to handle them twice because I replaced the batteries in my tps. The next lowest was $24.00 each. When I called around getting prices, a lot of places charge according to series, some as high as $45.00 each.
I had the run-flats taken off and replaced by Hankkoks which I bought online. The facility I went to charged $25 per wheel, and I brought the wheels / tires to them (they didn't have to put the car on a lift and remove and re-install the wheels on the car). Their standard charge is $19 a wheel. Yeah, it seemed a little pricey but I'm delighted with the result - they completely met my expectations.
On another subject in this thread, perhaps I don't fully understand the road-force benefits for the C5. My understanding is that the road force system measures various rolling dynamics of each tire / wheel and then determines the most compatible location to install each wheel/tire on the car. Seeing that our cars have staggered sizes front to back, then are we talking that the road force procedure would only be good for determining which tire/wheel should be on the left and right of each axle? Even so, with unidirectional tires, that won't work either because once a unidiectional tire is mounted on a wheel, that wheel can only go on the car in one location. Unless the shop is willing to mount the tires twice for each axle to determine which tire is most compatible with a given wheel. Now that sounds expensive. Would be great if someone could enlighten me why road-force is a benefit to C5s.

Mine were about $25 a wheel also (they were on the car with new tires off the car).
And I also had the high speed balancing done (not sure if it was Hunter ? or Road Force?) but the display sure looked like it was doing something worthwhile .
And I dont know if all places have the "no touch" mounting systems but the place I went to had the kind of tire machine that bolts the rim down and stretches the tire around the rim without touching the rim. I figured that was worth it after hearing all the horror stories about some places scratching up the rims.
Last week, I was about to order some tires from tirerack.com and wanted to make sure I wasn't going to pay $50 a tire to mount them. I went to the Discount Tire in Oklahoma City and asked the Manager how much he would charge to mount tires i bring in. His response was "Have you already purchased your tire?"---He matched the internet including tax. I know that doesn't help your issue with them, but he said all Discount Tire store will match internet prices. Rod
Normally if costs around $12 to $15 to have a tire mounted here. I had my son take in one of my wheels to have a new tire installed and they charged $47 fricking dollars because it was a performance tire! I realize there is a Corvette tax, but this seems way out of line. What does it cost in other parts of the country?
some states do require that tpms sensors be rebuilt if they come in for any reason - but as an example the tire place I work at charges $6 to do a rebuild on top of $13 for mounting and $9 for balancing.
You can see alot of variance in prices because some places handle disposal of lead weights properly and rebuild tpms sensors like they are supposed to.
Who is the ripoff the one that does things the way they are supposed to or the guy who bypasses the law and cuts corners and jeopardizes your safety and the safety of the environment to do so?
Granted I will give you that $50 per tire is def high but your argument about the tpms sensors is invalid if you knew how often they are in need of it once they are taken apart you would understand why many states require it.

I found a local "tire shop" that sells new and used tires and repairs flats. Got it all done for $30 bucks ! Mounted and balanced.
These company chain places are a rip-off ! Telling me they HAD to rebuild my TPS's as part of the tire change. What a crock !
Just called my local Goodyear shop to get a quote on replacing all four TPMS (I supplied TPMS) and was told $126. Dismount all 4 tires, mount and balance. I don't know if that's expensive or not but I have to get it done

$10 buck a pop here in central Illinois at the Firestone shop. They do a great job and do all the Vette tires, my wifes BMW and our Murano. $50a pop for the Vette at the dealership! Go figure! Zuti
I swapped the tires between my two vettes and paid $25 per wheel, or $200 for the job (I brought in the 8 mounted tires). It was at one of our major tire shops here in town and they had one man that was trusted to work on vette rims. The job and balancing were perfect, so I guess you get what you pay for.
