I too would like to see a photo of the run flat Michelins compared to the same size OEM Goodyear Super Car tires. My non run flat PS2's are very slightly narrower than the stock Z06 GY SC tires maybe just a 1/2" but I can see that ( was trained as an artist and have an eye for size differences/proportions).
Does anyone know if the RF PS2's are wider than the non RF PS2's?
I remember when I had BFG Comp T/A's on my C4 in size 275-40-17 and they were a full inch wider than the OEM Goodyears in the same size. That was real easy to see and they looked great and meaty.
It should be remembered that all those saying their replacement tires are so much better than the last tire they had on the car that the old tires were both harder (less traction) and less tread (rode harder and noisier). We never see a tree growing unless we see it several years later, same with tires.

I am just adding myself to the list for updates thanks.
The OEM Goodyear run flats will give you 3 mpg better gas mileage. They actually handle better and are wider than all stock sizes. They are even wider than the ZO6 tires! Hence, they look great. They also wear well.
They do ride harder and will not hookup as good on acceleration.
But they are the most expensive. However several Forum members have reported getting quite a few miles out of a set of their GY EMT's.
NITTO 555's (non-run flats, OEM sizes) you can get a full set for ~$650 from discount tire, free shipping. i have a compressor and a can of slime... and my USAA roadside coverage, just in case. the ride is so much quieter and smooth than my gy runflats.
I just put a set of the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus on my 96 Cpe. The last set of run flats I had I got 15k out of the tires and the rears were shot and the fronts were close. The Michelin's seem like a great tire. We were in the car all weekend traveling and are really impressed by the ride and handling. What a difference!!! We can actually talk in normal tone of voice at highway speeds too. I'm getting a can of "Fix-a-Flat" to keep in the car. After talking to the Manufacturer, about the LTPM that is in the tire, I think it is the best way to go, in an emergency situation. The stuff is water soluble and can be cleaned out with soap and water if I had to use it.

I ordered the car form the dealer, where I have worked for 20 years, new. I got it with the adjustable ride and the EMT's thinking they were going to be great. This is the 4th Vette that we have had, over the years. In 16 years of owning this car, I had one low tire, which I pulled into a dealer on the Cape and they patched the tire, on the inside, in a matter of an hour or so. I had to search out a LTPS for the right rear wheel, as that one broke inside the tire at highway speed. (not fun) Finally last fall I found the right sensor and just reinstalled it on the wheel last week. We just crossed 43,000 miles last week, and really will start to enjoy the car now. (retired in April)It really is a pleasure to drive the car now with the new Michelin Sport A/S Plus tires.
Same here but I couldn't stand the poor performance of the run flats. Bought a pair of needle nose pliers, tire patch kit and a little cigarette lighter air compressor for a temp repair in the event of well, you know. They all fit in one small lower trunk compartment. Good to go!
Try a set of Michelin Pilot Sport AS Plus ZP (runflats) and you will have no complaints about performance
My last set pf rear Michelin Pilot Sport AS Plus ZP (runflats) went for 33k before I had them replaced, under warranty, for new ones, the fronts still have over 50% of the original tread and are still gripping fine.
Having run flats will give you the same sensation as driving the "Flintmobile", and very expensive especially at replacement time. As far as flat tire worries, AAA for about $80 bucks a year.
Not so with Michelin Pilot Sport AS Plus ZP (runflats)
AAA is not so great when your many miles from a large city.......you could be waiting for many hours and that is IF there is cell coverage way out there.
I saw those ZP Zero Pressure tires on the web site, but my wheels are all 17" and the sizes wouldn't be the same as they only offer them in two sizes in the 17" wheel. When I saw that I went back to the non run flats, trying to keep the correct sizes front and rear.

They are available in OEM C5 sizes for 17 and 18" wheels.
What site are you looking on
My 2001 convertible came with run flats and I noticed a major difference when I went to non RF Michelin PS2's. Amazed at the difference in handling and ride. I have new Continental Extreme Contact DW's on the Z06 and also think the DW's are great tires.
I carry Slime, inflator, and tire repair kit but because of the long distances in Arizona I think I found a 17" wheel to put on a 255-45-17 tire which is the exact same overall diameter as my 295-35-18 ( which is on both the Z06 and the 2001 with Z06 wheels).
When I took the run flats off I was surprised at how heavy they were compared to the Conti's and PS2's. Add the way too stiff side walls and no wonder they handle like solid rubber tires.
If you want better handling get the non RF's with a inflator/Slime or a spare.
The suspension was made (softer) for runflats, when you put on non-runflats you will get a Cadillac-lie ride, BUT worse handling !
I would respectfully disagree. I'm running BFG KDW's for the past two set of tires - they corner better, have better traction straight line and cornering off an appex. As for caddy like ride - no way!
A '64 vette is one of my favorites but it is far from a C5 in ride, traction or handling.

Reason: typo
jrprich, Sorry to report, but someone already sent me a PM stating that I was on the wrong page. My car is a C-4, a 1996. Not quite sure how I got on the C-5 page but I guess it was a topic that I was interested in. Didn't mean to upset the applecart. In answer to your question, I used the Michelin site for the tire selection. See Link: http://www.michelinman.com/mediabin/...t_Guide_HR.pdf.
It only gave me the non ZP tires for a part# thats why I got the Sport A/S Plus. There was another site, I think was Tire Rack that gave me the ZP tires but they were two small and different profile. Thanks for the help and info anyway
