So since spring has started I've been having a issue with my 99 vette starting. Here is the deal.
When I get in the car push the clutch in and turn the key nothing happens. Battery is fine and radio is on and so forth but it acts like you don't have the clutch in at all. I thought maybe it was the starter not engaging. I replaced the starter but that didn't help at all.
So what would be causing the car not to turn over when you turn the key and the clutch is in?
Sounds to me like you have issues with the switch on the clutch. When the clutch is pushed down a switch is closed that allows the engine starter to be activated by the key. Otherwise you could start the car with it in gear which is not safe. Before you get too excited make certian the clutch is fully depressed and try starting then. I bet that is the problem. Good luck and keep us posted, Rob

Pellet on the key is not being read correctly. See below in BLUE
Try cleaning the pellet on the key with the eraser on a pencil or try your backup key.
The other codes should be addressed but the two in blue are why the car doesn't start. You are getting the security lockout which prevents the starter from being enabled.
Lost my other key. Only have the one. Looks like I better go to dealership and get a new one.

are all ground related codes associated with Ground 105 which is located under the block on the driver's side. Bet the bolt is either loose or corroded or both. Remove it, clean all connections, use some dielectric grease and reinstall it with a copper lock washer and a dab of blue loctite.

don't ask how know!
hope this helps.
Interesting. Is there a diagram where this is? I'll get in and look at it this weekend. I have to lift car and pull front tires off to replace my turn signals this weekend anyway.
I have similar problems, but no codes. Intermittently, the starter will click each time for appx. 10 attempts, then start. I've cleaned all the grounds in the engine compartment. I was told there may be a problem with the connections at the starter underneath. Next time I get to a lift, I'll have a look-see.
Figure I should bring this back up. Still having the problem. I have replaced the key and that didn't help. I have noticed if it doesn't start I can pull the negative terminal on the battery and replace the car will usually then start fine.
If it is the ground. I don't think I can fix it. Need to get from under it seems.
I've had the same issue. I did all of the trouble shooting techniques like banging the starter then starting it, jumping the red and purple wires under the passenger foot well with the car in neutral, the e brake pulled and the key to on, and used a new key. I wound up buying a new starter. Bill Curlee is the one who helped me through the troubleshooting....
Do you hear a click under the dash when you depress the clutch? (You should) this I believe is the relay to the starter...
Until you get ALL the security codes resolved,, you are pretty much stuck.
Clear ALl the DTCs and see what come back.
If you fix all the security DTCs and you TRUELY have to disconnect and reconnect the battery to trick the BCM to allow the car to start, you may be dealing with a BCM issue as discused in this post:

Ok so today I had the problem again. Now I'm more confused more than before.
Car would not start after going into store. I remove fuse 25 and put it back. Nothing. it didn't start. So I pulled the negative terminal and put it right back on and nothing. I then pulled the battery terminal and left it off for 20 seconds. Back on and then it didn't start still. I pulled battery terminal again and left it off for a couple mins. Back on and it still didn't start. Pulled 25 fuse again still no good. Finially after waiting and wating doing nothing it started.
I'm confused. I have no idea what the problem is now. ;(
The starter could have a bad solenoid or the connection's on the solenoid are loose and burnt.
If you mechanically agitate the solenoid, I bet that will cause it to crank.
I use to keep a 24" long piece of insulated rebar in the trunk when my solenoid started going bad.
If I had someone hold the key in the START position and I thumped the solenoid, it would crank every time.
Since I replaced the starter any other ideas? I don't know what to do, if I take it to a shop it could cost a ton since there in no one place to really start.
So my problem is still there. Since I put a new starter in last year and that didn't help. No idea what else to do now?
I'd take it into the shop but I don't know what to tell them to look for. It could cost so much I can't afford to have them just keep testing things.
Really open to anything else I can try. Its sitting in garage now. I tried to drive it a couple times this week and it didn't start right away. Left came back and then it did start.
