I've been working on the driver's door for about a week (waiting on parts to fix the floppy mirror issue) and the car has been sitting in the garage the entire time. I had all of the electronic plugs disconnected on the door while waiting for parts. Tonight I finished the repairs and reinstalled everything with no problems. Started up the car to find that the radio had lost all of its radio station presets that I'd put into it. I was wondering if by leaving the door connections unplugged, I somehow broke a circuit that might be required to keep the radio settings? Kinda wierd..
No sir, battery fully charged the whole time. Maybe plugging in the connectors caused it... hard to say. Got me baffled but just took a minute to reprogram the presets again.
Maybe it had something to do with the fact that you unplugged and replugged the switches that set the memory for the seats, mirrors, a/c, and radio. Memory 1, 2, or 3. Maybe it defaulted to a memory setting with different or no radio settings.
@65GGvert That makes sense. I did have the memory connections unplugged as well. Hadn't thought about the memory settings affecting the radio, but by golly, I think you're on the right track.
@DeeGee I didn't physically check the battery, but since I have a meter here, I'll check. Don't think its the battery but never can tell. I'll report back later.
@corvettezman You know, I didn't even pay attention to the time. I'll check that and report back as well. If time has changed, then I'd suspect some sort of battery connection loss. If only the presets were lost, I'll suspect the memory settings were lost when I disconnected the memory connections on the door.
Thanks all for the good ideas.
On a side note, while working on the door, inside the door I found a business card from XP Racing (Brett Seaberg, Owner) from here in OKC, with his email address on it. I sent him off an email to see if he'd worked on the car in the past. He replied that it was possible and would check the VIN# to see if he's anything to it. This detective work is getting a little deeper...and Sherlock Holmes, I'm not.
