Okay, I'm the proud owner of some gently used 2003 Thin Spokes. But they're going on a 1998 Coupe.
It's my understanding that the tire pressure sensors are different on a 2003 vs. a 1998. If this is true, do I put 1998 sensors on the 2003 wheels (will they fit?) or do I buy 2003 sensors?
I've never replaced any of mine so I'm sure they're getting close to needing replacement, so that's not a huge concern (although of course I'd like to avoid it if possible), so what I'm really asking is which one do I need?

You will need to put the '97-00 sensors in the new wheels and yes they will fit just fine. Or you can get the conversion kit from Gene at gmpartshouse.com and use the '01-04 sensors in your new wheels.
The sensors speak to the receiver in the car so you need the TPS appropriate for the year model. If the wheels are going onto a 98 you need the old 98 standard sensors.
It depends on how long your plan to own your '98.
Without changing the receivers you need to buy the Gen I older style sensors. But recently you can buy new receivers that allow you to convert to Gen II. Since the batteries last about 7 years the conversion is more expensive unless you plan to keep your '98 longer than the life of the Gen I batteries.
