I am considering, key word considering, maybe selling my C5. I was wondering if this was a good time given market conditions or if I should wait.
It is an '04 Commemorative Edition, convertible, automatic. Has about 42K miles, almost all highway miles, not a daily driver. Still has warranty (GMPP extended warranty). Completly stock other than new set of Michlen RF tires.
One owner with all paperwork/documentation.
So is this a good time and if so, what could I expect to get out of it?
First of all, sorry to hear you may be selling your car, but some things can't be helped. My suggestion is that you do an Ebay search for C5 Corvettes and then go through the "Completed Listings" located towards the bottom on the left side of the page. This way you'll know what they are actually going for. I used this a couple of months ago when I bought my 2004. I was able to make a fair offer and avoided any hard feelings for both the seller and me.
Well as far as whether to sell now or later, the price is not going to go UP over time so if you decide to sell the car it should be sooner than later.
As far as a price, I would guess $20-22k?
What I would do is list it for exactly what you would be willing to sell it for and state that the price is FIRM ($25k?). If you sell it you sell it, if not than you are still enjoying your car. This worked out for me when I sold my bike about a year ago. I was unsure where in the country I was going to get a job and didn't want to have to try to sell it last minute for nothing if I felt it wasnt worth trasporting across the country. So I listed it for more than I had into it, including gas, insurance, etc. and believe it or not it sold lol. And it worked out great because I ended up moving 1000 miles away a few months later.
I hope you enjoy your next car and good luck with your sale
I think a car like that would be worth 21-22k. You may be able to get more if your willing to wait for the right buyer. I would second the opinion of the above post. List your best price up front and state your firm on it. This will keep the low ballers from bombarding you and a legit buyer knows exactly what is expected. A person can list a car for 25k hoping to get 22k but you will miss many buyers who are looking for a 22k car.

Coming into spring and better driving weather, now would be the time to list it for sale if you want to part with it. My guess on the price - maybe $21-22K.
