I was heading south to Pierre, SD last year and in my rearview mirror I watched a new Camero pass everyone until he was on my tail (I was alrwady 5 over). He never tried to pass me and stayed there the rest of the way (maybe 20 miles). Scared or maybe just respect.
You know, I've noticed that same thing as well. Either respect for the Corvettes or maybe just that big rear that looks so good. Gotta be one or the other.
That's the answers I was hoping to hear. Between the number crunching and real world experience I am reassured when I look next door and see him smiling while he washes his car that I've not only got the better looking but faster car.
Now I'm almost convinced to challenge him to meet me saturday afternoon during test & tune and line 'em up.
Also, I knew I had approx. 290 at the wheels. I don't know why I wrote that wrong but I appreciate the correction.
I'm certainly not going to sound like a 16 year old and suggest it but ... I would like to know from anyone with experience if he would spank me at our local strip.
It's okay to act like your 16 again when going to the track!!
Get yourself some "sticky" tire and give it a shot ... what do you have to loose, a little pride? You might make a good friend out of it in the long run, sounds like the two of you actually might have something in common!
Way too many camaros on the road. People have super big dick attitude with those cars too act like there SUPER unstoppable. People will appreciate the corvette, people will laugh and think what another chode in the camaro. Super funny they waste 40 grand on a car that cant even compete with a 11 year old corvette. My personal best with my A4 is 12.8 and i beat SRT8 challengers and new 5.0 mustangs, and those are faster then the camaros. They can enjoy there "new muscle" over priced garbage thats not even as fast as a car from the 90s lol.
I'm not interested in playing any "mine is bigger than yours" games and when we talk, I'm certainly not going to sound like a 16 year old and suggest it but I would like to know from anyone with experience if he would spank me at our local strip.
The local 1/8th mile drag strip is less than a mile away from us. Just wondering if I had a chance against him on a 1/8 mile run.
Both sentenses seem to contradict one another. Should be a close race though. Good luck.

My little pissin contests over cars always lead to contradictory statements because I'm conflicted.
All of us still have a little teenager somewhere behind the responsibility and cynicism. I might just meet him at the strip for a little fun....then the strip club to celebrate the fact that we're both middle age crazy tryin to prove we still can
Just noticed a article from Ford saying the 2013 Mustang GT500 will post 662hp. I bet someone will post a thread.....Can I take my neighbors GT500? it's gonna retail for $54,000, and that's cheaper than a base C6. Not my cup of tea, but it's certainly proof that the horsepower wars are defiantely ON with the big three!
Just bought a used 2011 SS manual and I have had my '02 ZO6 for several years. The Camaro is much more than most of your cars out there and it is fun to drive. It's my daily driver. However, it's no match to my ZO6. I couldn't say one way or the other how the A4 would do. I'm guessing pretty close stock to stock......
I always compliment the guys who buy these new cars, I say "It's really nice to see a man behind the wheel of one, is that the V-6 or a V-8?" I get tired of seeing all the Camaro's with the baby seats in the back. You really rock that ride!"
HILARIOUS, my thoughts exactly!
edit: this is probably a dumb question but how can I tell which gears I have in my stock 04 auto coupe?

Needdlex, I think you are right about the corners. Handling wise, he's toast but on that straight 1/8 mile I'm thinking he'd have me.
Just so anyone knows, I'm not camaro bashing at all. I like the new ones just fine. If they'd put some flip up or roll over lights on it, a bird on the hood and a pontiac badge on the back. I'd buy one!
I like the new Camaro's too, but would like em better if they looked like these.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
