Default strange memory seat behavior

i have an 04 ce convertible 6 speed with memory sports seats (standard for the commemorative edition). i have tried repeatedly to get the memory seat function to operate properly. what it does: after setting the memory for the position i wish, it will only restore part of the position travel upon re-entry after unlocking, or after pressing the memory button manually (when entering the car when it has been unlocked. if i press the memory button after the initial seat travel, etc has stopped, it will continue to the positions i had originally programmed into it.

i have tried retracking the seat all the way (back full) with all the other "memory" items returned to their minimal positions, setting the memory (trying to "confuse" it so it will accept a completely different "memory), locking then unlocking the car and inserting the key to see what happens, and the memory leaves everything in the retracted position. resetting to my desired positions on the seat, wheel, mirrors, etc and setting the memory button (for the appropriate numbered fob) and it is back to assuming part of the memory initially and then completing the settings if thememory button is pushed manually.

any suggestions as to what might be wrong, or what may be needed to correct the problem?? i tried to locate a fuse that might control only the seat memory, but couldn't isolate just that function (figuring if i pulled the fuse i might stand a chance on completely clearing the system and getting it to work). so i'll try anything at this point.

Mine does it from time to time. I reprogram it each time and it holds for a few months before another accurance. It's nothing like running to you car in the rain to find out your seat has move too far forward for you to enter.

I think sometimes it loses track of where it is in its position. Try this for grins, it's free. Report back if it works.

Move the seat to its full back position. Release the switch. Press the switch toward the rear (as if to try to make it go further) for 3 seconds and release. Then move the seat all the way forward, release the switch and then press it forward for 3 seconds and release. Then set your memory positions and give it a try, remembering to use the #1 memory button for whichever fob you have trained as the # 1 fob. Press the unlock button on that fob and then insert the key and see if it goes to the correct position.

Also it might be worth it to check codes, mine does that occasionally and sometimes I get a code corresponding to unknown seat location.

Mine was having wierd problems moving for entry the going to the wrong spot when i press the button, etc.. mine was throwing a code about the left scm showing battery 2 out of range. I think everyone said it is normally caused by a lose or stripped wire under the seat...i just ignored it and turned off the auto move features

My 98 the seat moves back and the air conditioner comes on as soon as I insert the key, I just got the car 3 weeks ago, can it be that the key fob is programmed wrong?

No. But it could mean you need to go through your DIC and memory settings and enter your preferences.

Mine works fine - knock on wood! The only time it doesn't go all the way to its setting is if I take it out of park before its done.
