I'm considering going for this. I have a 50th Anniversary and I'm inclined to get the calipers in the same color as the car. My questions is what to do with the brackets.
What do you guys think would look better, brackets the same color as the calipers, or say flat black to keep them from stealing the thunder from the painted calipers?
What I'm afraid is that brackets with the same color could detract from the overall look. Any opinions?
I agree 100%! Mine are at Mike the Powdercoaters right now. Definitely do the brackets. Like the above post says, they look undone without the brackets coated too.
...Definitely do the brackets. It looks unfinished without them done, and also makes the caliper look bigger which is a nice benefit...

Yes, I agree. My intention was always to do the brackets too. What I was wondering was what would look better:
A) calipers and brackets both the same color as the car (50th Anniversary Red)
Or
B) calipers same color as car and brackets flat black to avoid them from "competing" with the calipers.
I just ordered powdercoated calipers for my 50th Anniversary vert. Got them anniversary red with the gold letters. Brackets will also be anniversary red. I'll post pics as soon as I get them.

I think they look better when BOTH the caliper and bracket are the same color. Still looks "undone" to me if the brackets remain black.

Keep both the same color. The brackets won't be "competing", they will be "complimenting".
I can't tell you how many people have complimented me on the brake calipers. Plus with powdercoating them they will stay clean and shiny forever. It was truely one of the best mods I made.
Thank you, guys! I think you are right. I was afraid the overall effect would be negative, but looking at your pictures I agree the brackets end up complementing the calipers.

I believe I got them from west coast corvette. My tuner installed them for me along with the rest of the brake equipment at the time. I believe that the taps on the back of the brake pads if they have tabs, may have to be removed, which is not that big of a deal. I can't remember if that was the case on mine or not.
When I painted my calipers, I left the brackets in the natural dark gray/flat black for fear of running out of red paint. That was a mistake. I had plenty of paint but by then, I had already masked off the brackets and the calipers were still wet. If I was doing it again or if I was going to the trouble you are, I would paint/coat the brackets the same color as the calipers.
Had Mike do mine - Mag Red to match the car with the brackets in silver to match the silver of the Corvette lettering on the caliper. Brackets on mine not as crucial as the Mag Sport Wheels mostly block the brackets. That is actually one of my old wheels - I have a new set since then.
Brackets in same color would be nice, too. Love the AE red and it will look great with this mod.
Just installed my AE Red calipers done by Mike the Powdercoater, very close match for a difficult color and great service as well. I went with both the calipers/brackets same color, with the letters "natural" w/clear over them. My only regret is the stock wheel spokes hide some of them Good luck with yours.....

Very nice, indeed! I really like the way your car looks... as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words!
I was also debating what to do with the letters and you just gave me the answer: clear over them!
