I know this subject has come up on many occasions but I couldn't' find anything that related to my situation. I purchased two 25695954 GM remotes off eBay. No I've never had the remotes at a gm dealer. OH the other important part is that I bought the car and it had no remotes and only one key. Its an 02 Z06 salvage title so I'm sure someone stole the remotes. That being said I had no remotes and just purchased two off eBay.
I used the matching process spelled out in the manual and made it to the point where the DIC says FOB TRAINING but when I hit the reset button one more time its suppose to take me to HOLD LK + UNLK 1ST FOB but it never changes to that display.... it just beeps and won't go any farther... tried pressing reset several times and even holding it the reset in and nothing.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance... I'm a vette newbie so I appreciate the help.
Yes following it line for line... I make it to step 7 on your list and after you press reset one more time LK + UNLK 1ST FOB should be displayed, but it never comes up.
The owner told me it didn't come with remotes meaning the car wasn't equipped but he's like the 3rd owner (and not real car savvy) so I just assumed he was wrong and remotes were standard options. Unless I'm wrong? I even called the GM dealer and gave them my VIN... they gave me a quote for $91 for each remote and $30 for a key and said yes the car is remote ready. Of course they told me to bring it in so they can do the adapting so that's another hundred bucks I'm sure. I bought two brand new in GM bags on ebay for $50 and a GM key for $20
I was able to get to the reprogram, but my OEM FOB's would only lock and unlock the car once, after which they would not work again until going through the entire programming sequence all over again. This was with brand new batteries in both FOB's. I finally just gave up and had my alarm installer program the Clarion FOB's that came with my new alarm to work with my doors and hatch, and I haven't had a problem since.
Well I finally took it to a dealer... he wanted to charge me $100 to set up two fobs so I said NO that's a little high. He came down on price but couldn't get them to program either. Asked if the car was equipped with them originally. I said yes... he checked vin anyway. Asked me where I got the fobs... I said doesn't matter, they test good and have GM part numbers right on them. His two techs spent a couple hours on it and got nothing. He explained to me the SAME EXACT thing it was doing to me. So I said I already knew that.... that's what I told you it was doing when I called you about it. UGH... anyway I thought they would use a scanner or something else to mate the remote to the car... this guy was a service writer so you know the type... blow smoke up your *** just to get your money and move on to the next car. Charged me $50 to tell me what I already knew. OH... he cut a key for me, so it cost me $50 to cut a spare key.
I have an old friend that is a super GM tech... will have to call him I guess. I feel guilty because I only call him when I'm stuck in a situation like this.
They didn't say if there were any... I'm assuming you mean the codes displayed when using a diagnostics scanner. I haven't had one on it nor know how to check.
You have the correct fob for a #1 fob for an 02. It should program OK. Why was the car salvaged? Any flood/electrical damage?
It was hit in the left front, repaired, sold to a retirement age gentlemen, then I purchased it from him. I can't say if there were electrical issues? I did ask the prior owner if he had remotes for it and he said "no, it didn't come with any". I'm assuming he meant he purchased the car with no remotes. The fact that the body shop sold the car to him with NO remotes makes me believe there may have been an issue with the car side of the remote system and the body shop didn't want to stick any more into it.
