Wasn't my vette, but we were parked at a motel in June Lake, CA, walked outside and saw two people placing theit nasty little child on my wife's Harley. The little buckle on her cute little shoe put a large obnoxious scratch in the wife's new $2,500.00 paint job. Called the cops and they said they didn't have time to check it out. The people scated with only some very abusive language being laid on them. They were lucky my wife wasn't out of the room yet. She might have killed someone! She was ready to kill me for not killing them.

Brackney,
I think you're missing the point here! How would you feel if it was your car they were doing a hat dance on?

Wasn't my car either but I know how ignorent **** can be and don't give a rats azz about others property and it sends my blood pressure to the redline zone.

When kids are allowed to do things as such, I fully blame the parents and this one slipped away. Wished they had caught her and made her pay for damages her yard rats inflicted on these cars.

The lack of respect for other people's property is NEVER ENDING STORY. It's nothing new. Some people are that way and they teach their kids to be the same. We can curse them, wish them ill feelings, want to do bodily harm to them, want them to pay for their transgression, but, at the end of the day, who pays? We do. So try not to let your BP go sky high; curse the SOB's as loud as you can and let off the steam. It won't be the first time and, unfortunately, it will not be the last. I could list "shxt happenings" from the last 65 years, but I won't bore me or you.

Of course I'd be pissed as hell. I have had cars vandalized (my wifes 2012 Escape was keyed a few months back). I have had 6 cars hit by drunk drivers, 5 of them totaled. As I mentioned previously, my 67 Camaro was scratched by an adult at a car show.

ALL of that said, I don't think it adds a damn thing to the events, or my being pissed off by mentioning the race of the offender, and I know the race of EACH one.

Of course the police would want to know, and I get that.

Trust me, I get how pissed he is, as well as anyone else in this thread.

A member here sold me some broken stuff a while back. Does his race matter?

Whether you like it or not people describe people by their race. The asians do it, the blacks do it, the middle eastern folks do it and so do white folks.

I didn't see it being desparaging against a particular race, too bad you do.

Asians typically aren't like that from my experiences. Must have been a liberal Asian.

I don't think describing someone using race as a category is offensive in the least. But using the correct term is key. i.e. Asian, White, Hispanic versus Oriental, Honkie or Mexican.

Police do it, the Armed Forces do it........Why ? Because it is effective. Everyone readily knows what a typical member of that race looks like making it common knowledge.

The same could be said for fat, skinny, bald or bearded......some people would find those descriptive terms offensive but who cares ? It conveys a clear message of how the person appears and allows others to identify the person in short order.

On to the subject at hand,..........people just have no respect for other people's property. There really is no remedy for this kind of behavior accept for avoidance. The police view property damage at that level as a low priority......and if it is on private property they will rarely even send a cruiser or write a report. Sorry for your trouble and I hope all the scratches come out.

I was at Coffee & Cars here in Houston this month, and they had a brand new Ferrari 458 Spyder (along with tons of other F-cars and others).

People were crawling all over the car. Specifically, I saw an older man (who was Asian) rub against it with his belt, putting a nice scratch in it, and lean up against the door to have someone take a picture. I couldn't believe it.

And, that was just one of the cars. I can only imagine how the others were treated.

No respect for property. I had my 3.5 year old son with me, and even he knew not to touch the cars. Had to remind him a couple of time not to get too close, but that's OK; he's 3.

It all starts with the parenting, something we have a great lack of in today's culture.

Funny I tend to think the world has gotten a little too PC sensitive, however when I lived in Hawaii (where whites are the minority) I overheard it explained: "Oriental is furniture, Asians are people."

I was always referred to as haole - didn't bother me, but I'm not easily offended.

OP, sorry to hear. That sucks that the cameras didn't help.

The lot cameras focus on the cars in the lots.
\There are several cameras throughout the facility and a screen in the security office has about 30 or so images displayed at once.
The non white, non black, non hispanic, non eastern European, non native American, non western Asian, person of female persuasion, had her auto parked where the camera could not pick up her license #.

The guard could easily missed the action for several reasons, small images, he may had gone to the bath room for those few minutes, or simply been out addressing another area of concern. (or taking a nap).

Bottom line, he didn't see the action, the member's dad saw it first from 100 yards or so, and after notifying his son who was well behind him and still inside the museum ,,, then approached the 'person of interest', and her to age challenged children...

No worries mate. Just pullin your chain. I did have a similar incident with my other car at a supermarket where the kid was using his hands and feet on my car door and the one next to mine to climb up. Nice hand print on my window and shoe print on the door.

Needless to say, it was an Asian kid with a clueless Asian mom who thought it was OK to let their kid climb up. So I don't blame the stereotypes, as some stereotypes are stereotypes since there are some truth to that. I did hit the panic button from inside the store and the kid got scared and fell down, which I felt bad for but the Asian mom got out of the car and spanked the kid's butt pretty hard after she saw that I was standing by the store window holding the remote.

It is usually people who are not Americanized (don't know the American culture) who do these kind of things like climb on other people's cars without asking permission, and think that white people all eat hamburgers and wear cowboy hats. (asians or any other race) Fortunately I've lived here so long that if I spoke on the phone to someone, no one would be tell that I'm asian, and I am almost too Americanized. Believe me, It is an disgrace to Asians when I see these kind of things and would probably went to the mom and slapped her for damaging the Corvette and being so ignorant. Pisses me off especially since I am Asian.

The "vandals" are not from one race; there are no exceptions. There are simply SOB's who don't give a crap and come in all sizes, shapes, nationalities, colors, religions, different regions of the USA, etc.

The museum welcomed us with open arms (as did the factory) and gave us special parking in the loop in front of the museum. We all went in and enjoyed the place one more time.

One of our members went out of the museum before the others and he, along with his dad, came upon a horrible sight. An Oriental woman that was also visiting the museum (not in our group) was taking pictures of her less than 10 YO kids while they climbed on several of our club cars. (YES climbed on). A C-6 and a C-5 sustained scratches in the paint, that penetrated the clear coat. Some were actually on the roof panel...My car looked like someone had run a rubber eraser over the hood (in seveal locations). I think I can 'rub' mine out, but the other two will likely need some touch up or repaint.

We made a report to the museum and the local police. Both said we were likely on our own for repairs. There is no way to identify the lady, her kids or whee they're from. We are a NCCC club, however I think they only cover any liability incurred if a club member has damaged someone or something. I'm not sure how any comprehesive coverage comes into play.

It wasn't the museums fault, but it happened there.
Funny thing, but it seems Karma might have played a role here. In June I posted a thread about my car being abused at a local dealer and your response was Quote : " I'm sure I'm alone but it's only a car and only 8 miles. Demand a detail of the car and worry about the important things in life. The cops will get a good laugh out of your earshot. " J/S END Quote. Are those cops still laughing now?

Probably what strikes me the most about this sad story is that it happened at the NCC of all places!!! I can only imagine the excitement of getting there and being there and then having this happen.... talk about a buzzkill!

I think the only cameras that work in America, are red-light, right-turn, and speeding cameras, they bring in revenue!!!
