<snip>I don't think describing someone using race as a category is offensive in the least. But using the correct term is key. i.e. Asian, White, Hispanic versus Oriental, Honkie or Mexican.
</snip>
I have to disagree with this statement. Honkie is a derogatory term for a caucasian person. Oriental & Mexican are correct terms for someone from the Orient or Mexico. The latter two terms are not derogatory at all. Why is it people get so wrapped up in terms? Call me white, caucasian, euro-american, american, I don't care... why should you?
As far as the Vette damage, many folks just use their cars for transportation and don't care what happens to it as they will be replacing it in 3 years anyways. Go F-up that kids X-box and see how pissed they'll get!
Funny thing, but it seems Karma might have played a role here. In June I posted a thread about my car being abused at a local dealer and your response was Quote : " I'm sure I'm alone but it's only a car and only 8 miles. Demand a detail of the car and worry about the important things in life. The cops will get a good laugh out of your earshot. " J/S END Quote. Are those cops still laughing now?
If a 'detail' worked for your car you're OK. It worked on mine, and I'm OK with that. The cars that were scratched is an entirely different story. There's a huge difference between a 'detail' and a repaint. No one got a free 'detail' or a free repaint from the incident at the museum. Did you get your detailed at someone else's expense? The repaints will be at the owner's expense or their insurance, since the museum isn't footing the bill.
Like I said, worry about the important things, a detail ain't one of them.

Don't expect any sympathy from me although I do feel for the other people. !

I dont care, that is my point. Some people are very sensitive and insist that certain term be used.
You're waaaayyyyy outta line with that comment. He's right, who cares about a fricken detail when the real damage could be to a number of mechanical things like the tires, brakes, clutch with burnouts etc. And your backing the member and his dad who did nothing is stupid.... face it, they're both wimps.
Whether you like it or not people describe people by their race. The asians do it, the blacks do it, the middle eastern folks do it and so do white folks.
I didn't see it being desparaging against a particular race, too bad you do.
Asians typically aren't like that from my experiences. Must have been a liberal Asian.
I didn't say it was disparaging. I simply asked how it was relevant to the damage, and the story/thread describing the damage.
I feel bad for the owners. I take my kids to car shows all the time and they know not to get near or touch anything, car, truck or bike. Heck I get irritated at the scratches that people put under the door handles with their fingernails and rings. I got a couple on the passenger side of my truck (wonder who put those there). Love you honey.
Course I'm into cars and many people are not. For instance those folks I see in the parking lot who leave their keys hanging from the keyhole after they open the door. Or the ones who set their computer/briefcases on top of their car. Or the............yikes I think I might be

It is usually people who are not Americanized (don't know the American culture) who do these kind of things like climb on other people's cars without asking permission, and think that white people all eat hamburgers and wear cowboy hats. (asians or any other race) Fortunately I've lived here so long that if I spoke on the phone to someone, no one would be tell that I'm asian, and I am almost too Americanized. Believe me, It is an disgrace to Asians when I see these kind of things and would probably went to the mom and slapped her for damaging the Corvette and being so ignorant. Pisses me off especially since I am Asian.
This is a valid point, IMHO. Think about it....someone comes from a relatively poor foreign country (take your pic) where it's common form for 25 people to pile on the back of a pickup truck or to stuff 80 people with their goats and chickens into a single bus then they wouldn't think twice about they or their children crawling all over a pretty paint job on a sports car or vintage muscle car. Damage is not even a consideration in their minds, as they likely have never owned something of such value and a source of pride. It's simple ignorance of culture and a lack of comprehension of the values of personal property. The shame of it all is that the owner(s) of the vehicle(s) that get damaged incur the expense of repairs due to the ignorance of such people. I have seen similar occurrences from recently immigrated families (from varying continents) on several occasions where they let their children do whatever they wish UNTIL someone actually confronts them or complains to authorities over damages they have encountered.
Good luck with the repairs. I feel bad for you and your friends.

Why didn't you question any of the other irrelevant facts??
- it was a Corvette that was damaged.
- it was at the NCM
- it was done by kids
Why are any of these facts relevant? He could have just said that his vehicle was damaged somewhere. You get the point. The OP is describing what happened to him. If he left out all of the irrelevant facts, his story could have been one sentence long.

Well said....I own a TV repair shop in an affluent town and have just about seen it all when it comes to not caring about your vehicle...I saw a customer put his 46" plasma tv on the hood of his Cayenne, open his tailgate and slide the set off the hood...
It all comes down to the parents...If they don't have enough sense to teach the kids about respecting property, then this occurs. I hate having to tell kids to stay away from customers equipment in my shop because usually the parent gets a little bothered by that...These are the same people that bring in TV's with the screen smattered with ice cream and fingerprints and other edibles/liquids.
Sucks about the cars, but how is her ethnicity relevant here?
Actually, it is pretty relevant. Last summer SO and I took a drive thru some back roads here in Az. Stopped at a small diner for lunch and parked the vert across the lot all by itself. Wasn't long before a bunch of Asians were all over it taking pictures. Sitting on the fenders, one was trying to get up on the hood when I yanked him off. Car was dusty because of the roads we had been on and was scratched. Couple were pretty wise *** about it, but soon shut up when it looked like it could get ugly.
As far as the race goes we have tons of Asians here as tourists and in my experience they are the worst as far as respecting property and just being courteous.
