Default New A4's

So I finally got around to installing the new seats. I can't give quite the glowing review that some have. They're nice and all, but not sure they're worth the price.

One huge disappointment is I've lost all my memory functions, (the car, that is), and my telescopic wheel no worky at all! I'm thinking I can take the module out of the old seats. Bye Bye resale....

Anyone moved the module?

Default Thanks

Can you think of a way to get the wheel to telescope, at least?

Hope you can get this figured out - would be a shame to lose the memory and telescoping functions.

Default Yeah...

I could live without the memory functions, since I'm the only driver. Would really like to be able to move the wheel, though.

Can anyone help???

And Happy Fathers Day!

Default Got my memory back!

So I removed the module and wiring harness from my stock "sport" seat, which was no easy task. Plugged it back into the car and all is good. As was mentioned earlier, it is throwing some codes. That kinda' gripes me since I've never had any codes, but I can live with it. Of course it'll kill the resale of my stock seats, but not sure I would have sold them anyway. Pain in the butt to ship...

I could be pursuaded to sell the stockers.

keep the stockers. if you have the standard material on the corbeaus they will be shot in 50k miles. well, at least the drivers bolster will be. roughly $100 to repair at the upholstery shop.

when you sell the car put the stock seats back in and sell the corbeaus on their own

Yea,, I would have to say, either mount the seats on the stock frames OR move the old seat electronics to the new seats. You will get DTCs because none of the seat feed back positioning pots are reporting the correct data.

I'll need to go for a drive to be sure, but after screwing around half the night, it looks like there will be three codes set for the SCM. I'm thinking these are just potentiometers and if I get time I may fool around with some resistors and ohm meter and see if I can't fool it.

Got to get up the canyon and see if my opinion of the seats improves through the corners!

Default No Codes!

Messed around with ohm meter last night. One pot read 7.4k and one was about 8k. All I could find was some 4.7k resistors so figured they could be in the range of movement for the seat pots. Success! All three codes cleared using the three resistors. One for each of the motors under the seat.

I now have all memory functions operational, except of course seat movement, and the "easy entry" steering wheel movement as well.

Needless to say I'm much happier with the new seats now!

If you move the harness and computer from the old seat you should not have any codes at all. The only draw back to having these seats is you will lose the power and memory settings from the factory seats. There is no way to mount the Corbeaus onto the factory brackets and sliders.

also have a good idea for a vendor to sell a plug and play version of what you just did for $39.95, good profit margin and easy to create

Default codes

There is a sensor in each of the three motors which seems to be just a potentiometer. The car knows these are missing and set a code for each. No big deal. Easy to fix with cheap resistors!

The plug and play harness you mention should come with the seats!

Default So I got to thinkin'

Which is sometimes scary, I know!

Possibly I could remove the resistors and reset the memory buttons and the computer would recognize the infinite ohm value. I removed one of the resistors and sure enough..threw the SCM code for that sensor. Replaced my 4.7k resistor in the green and black wires, seems pretty standard that the purple wire is not needed, and was able to clear the code.

Now got to clean up the wiring mess I've made and get to driving!!
