Ok guys here goes....
Looking to moderately upgrade my C-5 and looking for some insight.
I want to upgrade brakes, exhaust, and intake. I think I have the brakes figured out( slotted, drilled zo-6) , corsa touring exhaust, and an intake? Any intake suggestions?
Add Hawk brake pads to go with those new rotors and a dyno tune to make the best of your intake and exhaust mods. Also, consider lowering your car using stock bolts, easy to do, improves handling and appearance.
As far as intakes go, most people would suggest the Callaway Honker or the Vararam. I chose the Halltech Stinger, because I didn't want to dick around with the shroud modifications needed for the Vararam. With just my Halltech, ceramic coated 1 7/8" AR long tubes, and a tune, I put down 386/372 SAE in my 04 CE ZO6.
I'd go for the Corsa Pace Car vs. Touring model. For normal street driving its hard to tell the difference between the touring and pace car. But jump on it and there is clear difference. There are some comparision sound clips on the corsa website that might help.
Also if you have Corvette clubs in your area, you might want to contact them about when they have member gatherings. Good chance you'll be able to hear both versions on member cars if there is a sizeable group gathering.
I agree on lowering it on the stock suspension. You wouldn't need to go more. You can do the throttle body bypass while you are messing with the intake. Very simple mod that cools the throttle body substantially. There are allot of good intakes and exhausts out there. Id just get a tune once your done to really make them worth it. An x-pipe is not a bad way to get more out of the exhaust. Not sure if that Corsa comes with one or not. But they aren't that expensive.

The Vararam will probably give you the best HP gains, but it is more difficult to install and the fit quality has been an issue. If you are patient, you can probably get it to fit properly and then you an enjoy the upgrade.
I'm running a Blackwing on mine - not the performance bump of the Vararam but very easy to install.
Get a loud exhaust first. Then reevaluate. Do you really want your first mod to be brakes? My stock brakes are awesome. Not real pretty but work very well. But then again if money is no object do it all.

Ron,
Here is a link to the Corsa Pace Car (now known as Sport)
Speaking form experience, I am not a fan of the blackwing. I can see why allot of people go with it for the cheap price. But my car came stock except for a blackwing intake. It only replaces the air box for one. And it did not filter worth a sh** for another. I would always find a coat of dirt in the intake track. Anyways long story short, I switched to the K&N and got a much higher quality piece. Comes with a filter that doesn't let crap through, and a complete air bridge that is larger/smoother and goes directly into the TB eliminating all restrictions and accordion tubing. It is also CARB/ emissions legal for us Californians, the blackwing is not. For a short ram style intake, the K&N is the way to go IMO, for actual cold air the VR B2 has my vote.
I have been looking at the VR B2 upgrade, how difficult is it to install?
It is probably the most difficult of the intakes to install and can even require tuning as it is known to trip engine codes. But once done, it is probably the best set up you can do.
I have small upgrades on my 99: Corsa Pace Car exhaust(got it put on for free if you buy it at Corvettes at Carlisle)...Baer Decela slotted/drilled rotors with Hawk street pads..Blackwing air intake...That's all, only thing left is a stereo urgrade from the stock Bose junk..
LaPlata huh? That's where I'm from! Which vette did you go for?
I installed Billy Boat Bullets on my Z06 and I absolutely love them! Although I ended up buying a partition because the drone could be felt in my organs haha. I also installed the VRB2 with the Power Duct. It was a bitch to install (took around 4.5 hours, with beer and a few injuries). You can definitely feel the difference, and you can actually feel the air going into the intakes at the front of the car. Sounds and feels great! Powerslot drilled and slotted rotors with hawk pads. Also lowered on aftermarket bolts. And honestly, you can only go so low before it starts affecting where you can go. Speed bumps are a no no!
If you want, you could bring your car down and I'd be more than happy to help you install it! unless you have a garage and/or a lift, in which case I could drive to you one day.
Sweet, thanks. I have a garage but no lift and everything I hear you need to be able to lift the car almost 4 ' to get the old exhaust out without cutting the pipes. I will take you up on your offer if you are serious.( I will bring the beer ! ) I will be purchasing the exhaust in the next week or so. And then the VRB2.
Yeeeeeaaaah. You'll need the car way up high for the exhaust to come out in one piece. I didn't have that luxury, but I work with some badass welders who could easily mend it when I decide to sell the system.
By chance, did you buy that EB 02 sitting at Colonial Liquors? My dad was looking at that one haha.
P.S. Hell yeah I'm serious. Always willing to help out a fellow car guy. Just a warning, you (and possibly I) will be cussing the VRB2 haha. It's a bitch but you'll love the effect.
