Almost idiot proof. You have to watch your trim and correct product / polishing head.
I use a Porter Cable

They are pretty much idiot proof yes.

I have a Griots myself that I am happy with. You can go to Autogeek's website and they have some very informative videos on car care. It's a must see. griots Garage also has some.

I got a FLEX couple of years ago from vendor on this forum. Also got MENZERNA scratch and polish products and 3 different kinds of pads. The Flex is extemely well made tool, little pricey though, but sure makes our black 03 sparkle.

Is the Porter Cable the 7424XP? After all these years of using a regular buffer, I'm thinking of one to remove swirl marks left from buffing.

The Porter Cable 7424x is a great buffer - that being said the Flex will do everything the PC will do, faster and better. It is a true dual action buffer. On the highest speed setting is oscillates at 6000 oscillation per minutes and rotates at 450 rpm.

The PC - not being a forced rotation buffer only oscillates, the rotary motion of the buffer is driven by centrifugal force. Its the oscillations that do the paint correction, not the rotation.

Our Corvettes have a very hard clear coat, as a result they are prone to hairline scratches and swirls. The Flex does a better job of smoothing out the edges of those scratches making them almost if not entirely disappear. The PC will also do this - it just takes longer and it is more time and effort.

Adams has several videos on their web site that describes the operation of both machines in detail, and how to best achieve the optimal results!

Yep - Have had mine for 8 years now. Does a fantastic job, no burn. Got mine on sale at Loews. Zuti
(comes with a 5" pad, make sure you also get a 6" to handle the more standard pads and applicators. I don't remember for sure, but I think mine came with both)

They are pretty easy to use and many help guides online. Dont get one of those big headed wax pushers sold for 30.00, they dont have enough power to polish. Consider Porter Cable, Megs, Griots, or the Flex.

If you decide on purchase and need some help just PM me. I'll help you design just what you need with no fluff to get the job done and make you the envy of your neighbors.

Flex here, had the porter cable, it was good but I find the Fex has lot less vibration and does the job in 1/3 the time.

I agree with Black Sedan 77 and Driwash. The Flex isn't cheap but if you can afford it you will be a happy camper.

Thanks for all the info - I will look into the Flex - sounds like a very good buffer.
