Thanks for the review. When I retire I'm thinking of getting a C6 for my retirement present. By then maybe I can afford one. I could now, but I don't like car payments.

I haven't driven one but from a visual perspective I don't see the vast improvement some people do. Maybe I'm just missing something.

But I do like them, Thanks again!!

Oh yeah, that's really cool you're the original owner of your Camaro!! I know a guy who has a 69 Charger his Dad bought for him new and guy who still has his 69 Z28 from high school that still looks brand new.

Back in September of 07 I traded my 99 Pewter coupe in for a 3LT JSB Z51 Coupe. It has been a fantastic car but I missed the C5, so in 2010 I picked up a 98 vert at Carlisle. Both cars are different and I like them both. The 98 is my daily driver and the 08 comes out for special trips. Two is better than one!

You lucky SOB!!!!!

Do you have any idea how many people you just turned green?!?!?

Just kiddin'. I'm on my fifth 'Vette, my second '99 C5, after a seven year hiatus, and I am just so very ecstatic to have one again that I still haven't stopped giggling yet!!!! This is the best one yet, Z51 suspension, 3.15 gears (A4), and all of the goodies I was used to in the interior, power sport seats, HUD, etc.

It's gotta be pretty cool though, to have a show car for a weekend toy, and a show car for a DD!! Cause we all know all 'Vettes are show cars!!

Enjoy!!

I will always have a lot of respect for the C5. I traded an '02 Z for a '10 GrandSport. The GS is a better Car in every way which is to be expected. But, the C5 made the Vette a truly world class Car. And, GM built upon this to make the C6 the great Car that it is.

I totally agree, the C5 generation was the begining of the new greatness of the vette.

I, for one actually like the c-5 better! And yes, I could afford a new c-6 without a problem. I drove a c-6 and didn't really think much of it.
A nice car for sure but the c-5 just feels better and to me looks a heck of a lot better! Now an LS-3 engine would be nice in a c-5

I test drove both the C5 and the C6 back in 2009, and decided on the C5 convertible, I liked the interior much better, the ride and the "feel". Although I always said that the only C6 I would buy would be a Z06, which I did this March. Of course there is no comparison between the two, the Z is a monster. I still enjoy driving the 'vert, I love the open air...but for me the torque and sound of the Z06 is incomparable. My next 'vert will be a 2013 427.

Default C5 to C6

Great review.
I have had my 99 FRC for 18 months now and I am thinking about
moving up to a 2006 Auto with paddle shifters. My wife
want drive the 6speed and keeping the black paint looking good
is a constant chore. I also would like a nicer interior the later cars have.

except I'll never buy one because there's no FRC Hardtop and I can't take the hatchback styling.

Simply install an A&A supercharger and have lots of power (500 at the rear wheels). That's even more than a C6 Z06 has.
