As you can see, I have been a member here a "few" years...lol I sold the last Vette I had in 2004 and took some time off. I always owned C4's and thought I would upgrade this time around. My local vette pusher (BUDS) just happened to get a 4K mile 6 speed in late last week. Well pulled the trigger on it today, should have it picked up Tues!
So, I know next to nothing on the C5 Vettes, and I like starting this way...any words of wisdom on how to treat my new (old) arrival?
Looking forward to bugging you all with my C5 questions!
Oh, I decided to keep my old user name, as I loved that 1990 ZR-1 that I stupidly sold...dumb, dumb, dumb! Hopefully the pacer cures some of that heartache! Happy to be in the C5 section.
Your purchase really cheeses me off...
I bought my PC in January. I haven't really seen too many other PC owners on here so I thought I was elite.
Another guy on here just bought one about 3 weeks ago - now you!!!!!
Thanks guys...those are some good links too Chillwack!...sorry for cheese'n ya off bro!
Ya 4K miles...its 100% stock, even stock exhaust on it....but thats good so now I can take it in my own direction.
As good as the C4 is, I can't believe the advancements on the C5's..just wow! It will remain pretty stock for quite awhile as I decide which way to go with it...pics will be inbound as soon as I get it.

I’m a bit confused they only made 547 pace cars in 98 with the MN6 six speed trans why change anything? Why didn’t you buy a base C5 and do whatever mod you want? You paid a chunk of change for a low mileage Pace Car, on the other hand if you mod it out I guess it just makes Chilliwack, and my Pace Cars worth more so mod away.
That being said its your car do what you want just wondering why.

It may very well stay stock..I haven't gotten that far yet...well, since its not even in my driveway yet!
We had an auction here in Carson City last week. A guy had a 98 with 21 miles on it. It still had the plastic on the seats. He said he was offered $82,000. a couple of weeks after he bought it and turned it down. (In 1998) He's the original owner. I think it got up to $25,000.00 and it didn't sell. Anyway, I never did care for it in all the pics I've seen, but I've got to say they are pretty cool looking "in the flesh" er "plastic". Congradulations, but if somebody offers $82K, TAKE IT! No really, you have a nice looking car.
Simply beautiful. I absolutely love low mileage pristine cars.
In '98 the C5s were very hard to get after the 13 yr production run of the C4s and the very short model run of the '97s. When I ordered my 98, it's production was delayed because the building of the pace cars intervened. The pace cars were the first that offered 'active handling' and I don't remember if it was standard or optional on them. Since my car was built immediately after them, I was able to add active handling to it as an option, and it was one of the very few '98s that was not a pace car yet had that feature. So I've always thanked the pace cars for that even though I had to wait a little longer.
Your pace car looks great.
I went from a C4 to a 2002 Z06 with low mileage. A year later I bought a 1992 C4 coupe to go with the Z06. The C4 gives a certain feel when driving one that the C5 Corvette, as great as it is, cannot match. The 2 cars are just totally different from each other.
So my advice is to start saving your money and get ready to buy a nice C4 to go with that very striking pace car. Then you will have 2 great Corvettes.

I agree, the C4's are VERY different in terms of ride/feel. I loved the 3 I owned, esp the '90 ZR-1..even having a C5 I MISS that one!!
From here I think the next one will be an early C3, an LT-1 4 speed is sounding great about now. Took a trip the NCM years ago with my dad in his '81, a memory I will never forget.
