The only thing I like about before and after is the deletion of the BSMs. I've never gotten on board with the whole PD thing but she's yours and if you dig it more power to ya. I will say, as most others have made mention, the shadows with the chrome outline do not make good partners. JMO.

What I can say is that you did an EXCELLENT job of applying the "chrome" and keeping the lines straight and radius' spot-on.

"Ricey" does not apply at all....generic term for everything unusual it seems.
"Dated" would be better.....stuff that was way good in the '80's

Good definition but slightly overdone. Perhaps start with removing the rear marker light surround. Then the markers match the tailights.

Leave the other chrome and see what you think.

I think you were creative and talented. ....but it is a bit dated.

Not ricey.....It's your ride....keep what makes YOU happy.
its funny, I was talking with my wife the other day saying that I might actually be getting old, because all those old classic cars are starting to look good to me lol

I was at west coast corvette a while back and they have some older lassic vettes from the sixties...I really liked all the shiny chrome on red and got the idea of doing this....i think it looks a lot better in person than in the pics...I re-did the whole thing twice to get everything staight and very clean

in person the use of the PD and chrome on the recessed areas actually accentuates the curves and lines of the car....though I have to admit it has an almost 70's or early 80's kinda retro look to it, it looks almost comic bookish or hotwheels-ish in person, but because I took the time to make everything clean and neat it works and does'nt look old.

I was actually thinking about Plastidiping the inside lip of the tail lights and and doing the chrome trim on the outside of the lip to tie it into the sidemarkers, lower fascia, and license plate recess....

it has definately given it a bit more of a cruiser hot rodish look to it, but with C5+ power and handling...

Having said all that it does also look really nice without the chrome bits, cleaner and sleeker for sure, but in person it looks better with the chrome on and in pictures it looks better with the chrome off....hard to explain but at full size it looks differant than computer sized in a pic.

overall I guess the insperation is the "supercar" look and effect....on Top Gear they have a good definition for the "Supercar" look as something that makes a ten year old boy go "WoW".... so what I was going for was a big accentuation of the cars lines in almost a comic book way, but done really lean and neat, well finished, so it does'nt look cheap or cheesy in person....I think I kinda got that a bit....moreover, there is a kind of uniqueness that I'm going for that I have'nt seen done on other C5's

in some ways it looks almost super hero-ish in person, very toy like....for a bit when the wax was on giving it a flat look I was even considering doing a matte red vinyl car wrap becuase the flat red made it look even more toyish

I think I'll complete the look by doing the tail lights and front fog light amd brake cooling inlits in the same look....but eventually I have a plan to do a full chrome wrap on the whole car with torch red accents and a torch red roll bar :-)

I do really like that smoothed out tail light look, but then I thought to go directly the other direction amd accentuate the recesses by blackening the inside of the lip and trimming it in chrome, like I did withthe license plate recess....I will probably remove the black from the inside lip of those louvers in the lower rear fascia so the inside is red and accentuated....odly enough, I'm considering smoothing the fog light recess in the front and eliminating them altogether, and then blackening the lip of the front brake inlits amd running light recesses and trimming those in chrome to accentuate them....we will see, so far everything I have done can litterally be peeled of in a few minutes, smoothing the fog light recesses would be a bigger change.

Well I think it has some merit, the car looks good but the chrome trim is a bit much, it does make it look cheap around the license plate, think that area should have been left alone, but I don't think it looks bad around the rear fascia.
If you do the tail lights, or side ducts, thats really going to push it way into tacky territory, I'm an old school guy and love the chrome, but even the older cars could go overboard.
The paint work is really sharp though, nice shine!
Fact is, its your car, do what you like!

Moved on to another thread but I thought I'd finish this one out....tried it without the chrome trim but had an unfinished look...so moved forward with the trim around the tail lights....I like it, glad I did it...;-)

Here is a picture of a vert rear end that looked exactly like mine before I started for a side by side comparison:

its a good bit differant than whats out there in the vette world...but I think it works well, just takes a second to adjust to the new ideology

It really does look better in person...its a very crisp look....clean lines

also...I think it works good with red...but not sure if this look would work with other colors...would like to see...would probably look good on pewter, and probably silver too

I like the black out and plasti-dip addition. I'm not a fan of the chome on the side marker though.

I see it as a kind of bridgeing of the gap between something like this that looks good with just the black and red:

and this, that is born for a little chrome:

its funny...I love the 69 but did'nt realize the loose similarities I was making while I was doing the work on my C5 vert:
