will post more pics as it comes along...I have'nt seen anyone else do something like this to there vette, especially the license plate area....I think it give kinda a modern but classic look
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Too many GeeJaws. These cars were designed to portray subtle power and the various black-outs and chrome do-hickies just take away from the long and lean design of the car.
She is a beautiful babe, skip the Tat's...
I have a C5 vert identical to yours, but with tan interior. That Torch RED can't be beat to attract attention. No need to do any additions to the car. (Of course, my highly valued "old guy" opinion... :})
----
I can see the criticism of Plastidip and chrome letters but one of the first mods that we did to our '00 RED C5 was to get a set of $3700 (I leased them, I'm not a dummy...) chrome spinning wheels. Nice 1" thick tires too.
Looks great on the vert and gives the effect that this car will really go fast /Sarc...
(We are keeping the car 100% bone-stock, no mod's at all. She's a pretty gal, as-is...)

Its at odds with what everyone says when they see it in person, the general non-corvette population has given it rave reviews
before I did the work about once a week someone would come up and just start talking to me about how nice the car looks, now about once a day someone does, and yesterday I was driving past a group of late teen/early twenties girls driving around in a mercedes convertable their dady bought them and one girl said:
"Look at that car, you want that car Megan?"
Megan said emphatically: "yeah, look at it" and she said it in a tone of voice that sounded like "of course i would love that car but its way outa reach for me"
then all the girls looked at the car with googoo eyes as I drove away lol
was kinda cool
could be the rest of the other work I did though, you can't tell in these pictures because the before pic was taken on a sunny day and the after was taken on a cloudy day, but I did a complete refurb on the paint job. Before it was shiny but at the right angle it was rife with spider webbing and swirl marks in the paint job, I wet sanded the whole car with 1500 and then 2000 grit sand paper, then used Meguiers diamond cut rubbing compound, then Meguiers Glaze, then a layer of Mother's higher end Carnuba, then another layer of glaze. In full sunshine it looks like you could dip you finger in the deep wet paint and it has no more spider webbing or swirl marks from any angle.
I was very meticulous in the application of the plastidip and trim so it would have an oem or well finished look, and the trim is the thinest version made, about an eigth of an inch, so its more understated in person than in the pics, just makes a finishing line around the black areas
having said all that, its cool one of you guys mentioned the c2 and c3 vettes and their chrome, I love the 69 vettes and love the look of the chrome on red, I have even considered getting a 69 body and doing a retro mod, there are modern lightweight and stiff tubular chasis that you can bolt C6 engines, drivetrain, brakes, and suspensions onto with the 69 corvette vert body bolted on top of...one day I'll do that project
but I really love the C5 body style the most, with some TLC its timelessly modern looking, but I do also love a bit of chrome lol... have you guys ever seen the interior of a Spyker Spyder?, all that chrome and leather on a modern sports car?....I love it
in any case, one good pull on the corner and all the plastidip and chrome will peel right off, thats the fun of it, with some attention to detail you can play around with it and make a good quality finished look to play around with, and then if ya don't like it you can peel it right off lol
