I have a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix, great 'W' platform 3.8 liter V6 with a Eaton M-90 Self -Oiling supercharger. All I have done is replace every fluid and filter there is and added a K&N air filter and custom Focus 06 wheels and a set of HanKook Aventa Z rated A/S radials. The car is a blast, it's medium sized 4 door sedan, but it can hit a hundred and ten in a moment when the supercharger kicks in. You really can be surprised with what 9 pounds of Boost can do to an engine.
Mods would not keep mine from being a DD, it would just make it more fun!! My commute is 23 miles each way on low traffic country roads, so plenty of time to enjoy horse power mods!!!
However, it is my only car and so must be ready to go at any given moment. Therefore, down-time for doing mods is kinda out of the question. Cosmetic mods are still possible.

DD is a VW GTI turbo. Incredible fun to drive. Especially in high speed turns. I have had that sucker in 4 wheel slides multiple times. Only mod is a K&N filter. No need to mod my daily driver. Its more than enough fun as it is stock.
I D/D my 2000 a4 & love it mods are duel cone air filter, ls6 intake, P&P tb, mildly ported 243s, & a yank 3200 convertor. It still has the 315 gear. I live about 20 country miles from work but I drive it on 2 & 300 mile trips!
My commute to work is 84 miles round trip so the Vette stays at home. I also have a Suburban but it gets driven less than the Vette due $140 fill ups. My daily driver is a 94 Nissan pickup. I have the parts for some cosmetic mods in my bedroom closet and soon as the weather gets nicer I will start with the mods. They will mostly be cosmetic but do intend to change out the exhaust system.
I have 2 daily drivers - my C5 and my 89 Mazda MX 6 GT Turbo. The MX6 is lowered on Eibach Pros, has enlarged exhaust with Magnaflow muffler and cat. A triple gauge pillar pod has super-bright Glowshift gauges (vac/boost, oil temp, and oil pressure) and I cranked up boost to about 12 psi. 16-inch Konig wheels round things off. This car weighs 2700 lbs and is still fun to drive, even after 15 years of ownership.
I have an 05' Scion xA, it has 15% tint all around and a Pioneer navi. I was going to throw a cold air intake on it since the little 1.5 makes 108 hp and gets 35 mpg all day every day, but I am more focused on putting money into maintenance so it gets me to my job which is 50 miles away. I run AMSOIL in the tranny, and Mobil1 in the motor. When the stock clutch dies, I'll get an Exedy stage 1.
My '03 is my DD, it has:130,000 on it with, England Green MayhemII cam, A&A Super charger, RPM Level 5 tranny and more. The '55 with a 383 stroker is for fun. L8R ZFLASH
My 03' coupe has about 45k mi. and I DD it about 90 miles per day. I have been slowly working towards a fully modded car. So far I have LG Street LT's, K&N cai, cat delete x-pipe, and a LG short shifter. Love DD my vette! I am glad it has f55 though.
Soon I will be installing some 243 heads and a 228r cam.
