Default Garage queens.....

Drove to work this morning at 7:00am. On Ft Lauderdale beach, up to 40 mph on wind gusts....hard rain and drove on about 2" of wet sand for several miles. Vette still runs as usual, great. Point being, it didn't melt.

I usually drive at least once a week in the rain....either to or from work (25) miles.

"Issac"...tropical storm/hurricane, is somewhat past us but the wind and rainy condictions are still with us.

Have a great day.

Bought an 00 back in March. Baby had 36k...I've tagged on 10k since then. True, I did drive from CO to VA down to MS, but the car is made to drive, so I drive it all the time!

I keep a spare vehicle at work and at home so if I get stuck with it and it starts raining, I can leave it. I park inside the building and let it there and take my truck if I'm at work. Take the other car if I'm at home.

And I don't even like my car! I wonder how bad I'd be if if my car treated me as good as I do it!

My Vette gets wet from time to time, it's easy to get caught in a thunderstorm downpour here in the deep South, and now, Isaac is about to put a whipping on us. I'll leave it in the garage and hope the roof doesn't blow off....

Picked mine up Saturday and drove it home from Merritt Island to Pompano Beach. Waiting for a paper title so I can get it properly registered, or I would have been driving it. no problem with the weather, although it was interesting to see how the wind gusts played with the "instant" fuel mileage numbers.

"....2"of wet sand" - be sure to check your radiator to see how much of that wet sand that little bottom feeder picked up.

Mine's a DD and rain or shine she's on the road. I bought with that in mind. Do the best I can to keep it clean and unmolested.

I have owned my Z06 for just over 3 years. I purchased it with 42,890 miles on the clock. It just hit 45,000.

Using it as a daily driver is fine, even if you only live 100 yards from work! I sometimes drive mine to get lunch, and that's only about 200 yards!

I put about 2-3K miles a year on mine - just the way it is. Yes, I probably need to get out and drive it more but for me at least, if the weather is bad, it stays inside.

I have put 1000 miles on mine since May. Probably will get another 500 or so before it goes into hibernation for the winter. I bought mine with this in mind. Proably will do about 2000 miles a year after this year. To each his own. I just would never drive mine in 2 inches of wet anything!

I have an 1984 coupe I drove to and from work every day for 6 years. That is summer and winter here in Illinois. One thing you get to be , is an excellent driver when you drive a vette in the winter. You either do OR you have the highest insurance costs in the nation.
Oh, by the way, I just took it to NCRS and got a "Top Flight" award on it..all ORIGINAL with 107,000 miles.....

i don't mind driving mine in the rain. did the other day when it stormed while i had it at work and i drove home from Carlisle Sunday afternoon through a storm. but if i know the weather is iffy, i just drive one of my other cars. that's why i have a DD. you don't get bonus points in life for having a garage queen, but you also don't get bonus points for driving your vette through a couple inches of crap.

Got mine on the road in June and have added 2500 miles so far. I love driving it. We are taking it to Watkins Glen for the Vintage Weekend next month. Registered fo the Red Newt Cellars Tour and really looking forward to it. It's a rain or shine event.

Mine is garage kept and won't be seeing any road salt this winter. I also have insurance with Haggerty with the others so it's not to be a DD. But I have no problem with rain except having to clean it! By looking at the undercarriage, I'd say it hasn't seen any winter driving. So I intend to keep it that way.

Heck, I don't even drive my Dodge truck in the salt if I don't absolutely have to. Right now I have an 03 Saturn LW300 that is my beater. I bought it wrecked also and have about 4 grand in it. Nice car but I consider my beater car as a sacrificial lamb so to speak. It rots away and I'll pick up another. You aren't going to buy a new truck or Corvette for $4K. Anyway, that's how I look at it. Use it yes, destroy it, never.

I have a DD for daily use, and I'm certainly not going to lug my 80lb tool box and various heavy parts in it daily like I do in my other car. I have more respect for it than that.

I save my 04 Z06 for weekend fun ! Its going to last a long time for me since I only manage to muster about 3000 miles a year. I am enjoying every mile ! Bought it new in March 04, and enjoying it almost every weekend in it since !

Some can drive their car daily... some can not. Its just not practical for a daily driver for some of us.

Yep, mine is for weekend pleasure and errand driving, and only when the weather is nice. I try to avoid rain but sometimes I can't avoid it. I definitely avoid snow and salt. As such, I do about 2-3K per year on mine.
