Bought my first Vette 6 weeks ago, so I am still a newbie at what looks good and what doesn't. I'm hoping that you guys can give me some guidance on ordering caliper covers. On my Vette, my front calipers have the script, "CORVETTE", but the back have no script, so I thoght that I'd put covers on them. I have been looking at the site from West Coast Corvette, http://www.westcoastcorvette.com/p-4...04-c5-z06.aspx, and they show 4 different color combinations. I'm not a flash guy, so I like either the black script on red or the black script on silver. My Vette is an '01, Torch Red. What is the most favored look? This is not a show car, but I want it to look nice for my weekend drives. Thanks for your help.
Well, if you decide to go that route we have them for $199 and free shipping! They are very popular contrary to what has been posted....to each his own
OK, guys, I get the idea. No caliper covers. I am going to paint my existing calipers and fix other issues that I have that are more important. Thanks for all of the replies and after thinking about how they make the car look, I have ro agree that they do help make the car look 'chinsy.'
You know, all of the comments about rice, cheap, big brake wannabes, and such...I bought a set in brushed silver and plan to install them next week. I DO NOT want to fake a big brake kit, powdercoat the existing calipers, or take the time to paint. Why? IMO, the front calipers look great from the factory, but the rears just plain old suck!
What to do? Simple solution, cover it. Go ahead and flame me...I do have the means to upgrade to bigger brakes, but I drive my car on the street, not the track. No need to spend thousands.
What's the real big deal anyways? If you like it...do it. I am.
I would remove the calipers and have them power coated before I would buy the covers. JMHO
Okie
When I get the time and money I plan on upgrading my recently painted calipers (went with a VHT medium blue) with candy apple blue powder-coated calipers. I've found that blue looks very good against arctic white.

I replaced the stock brake system on my daily driven 2000 coupe with drilled & slotted rotors on all four corners, painted all four calipers, and replaced the brake pads for about $250, which also included a gallon of brake fluid for a thorough flushing. Toss in another $70 and you can add a Motive pressure bleeder system to the mix. Who said anything about thousands?
I wonder how many of the caliper cover bashers use that plasti dip crap It's funny how much hate they receive. Even big wing spoilers and wagon wheels get more love

The closest PD ever gets to my car is when I park outside a hardware store that sells it.

my issue with the covers is the cost. if they were cheap, i would understand. by they are more expensive than most other options. heck, you can practically buy new brakes for the cost. (yes, i'm exaggerating, but not by a lot.)
