While returning home from a decent day on the golf course, I noticed this 04 pulled over on the side of the road. Witnesses say, he got on it while on a test drive and clipped the rear end of a minivan. Fortunately, no one was injured but I would hate to be in this guy's shoes.

 

Looks like that frame it bent! Might actually be totalled!

 

Good to know that the air bags still work on our cars as they age .

 

Long time ago I was at a dealership looking at a brand new 1998 Contour SVT. (Yes I actually bought one, but not that one.) A guy came in and was looking at the new Cobra. They went out for a test drive as I was looking at the Contour. About 10 minutes later there was an excited conversation over the phone at the desk next to ours. I caught the gist of it, the guy test driving the Cobra had gone into a corner and tried to drift it, lost control, slammed into the bank, then back into an on-coming car.

I guess the driver was banged up pretty bad, but the sales guy walked away with minor cuts and bruises.

I'm such a bad passenger anyway, I could never be a salesman.

Corvettes are very unforgiving, when you get on it, not knowing what you're doing, there's little room for saying "I wish I didn't do that!"

It doesn't look good, that's for sure.

 

Test driver, "So....I assume we are talking a substantial discount at this point?!?!?!?"

Guy doesn't care, it was a test drive and the car failed. Insurance? Dealer has the insurance.

 

Too much car for the driver maybe?

 

At least it wasn't a ZR1 :-) that would be a hefty claim!

 

The driver's insurance is responsible unless he does not have it.

 

This is why many sellers on Craig's list state "No test drives unless cash is in hand."

when i was 20 i took out a mustang on a test drive , i was going down the the road back to the dealer when a cop flew out of a gas station and hit me broad side , i was fine but car was totaled , i had to call the dealer , cop said he did not even see me

 

More like, it looks like you just bought yourself a car.

Don't see how the car failed in this car - guy doing the test drive was an idiot with property that was not his.

 

When I bought my 03 Lightning, the dealer said no to a test drive. I had perfect credit and money wasn't the problem...They break free so easily (even at bone stock) that the dealership was having lots of damaged trucks to deal with.
